I am trying to determine if I should book my kids on the Pirate Cruise or the Albatross Cruise. The biggest problem that I see with the Albatross Cruise is how to get from POR to YC before 9:30am using Disney transportation. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hmmm...Good one:)

I'm sure there's a few ways that I'm not thinking of, but the one that sticks out is to take the bus from POR to MGM, then take the walkway to the YC Marina (which can take 20 mins. or so)

If taking the bus from POR to MGM, I'd say catching the earliest bus would be the best way, as I'm sure you know to get to the Marina early enough to check in, etc.

If by chance MGM is scheduled for early opening on the day of the cruise, then that would allow plenty of time. If not, I would still think catching the first bus from POR to MGM will get you there in time, as I believe the busses start running an hour prior to opening (might want to confirm this, though).

Maybe someone with more expertise in WDW trans. can help more:)

Have fun!

Quite honestly, it might be worth the money for a cab ride. More direct and it's really not too much money....I'm sure someone could give you an estimate. (I don't think it would be more than $20, probably more like $10)

My DS is doing the Albatross in October and he's really looking forward to it. he did the Pirate cruise last December and LOVED it! Good Luck with your decision :)

I was so wrapped up in what cruise (albatross or pirate) the kdis would enjoy better, I never thought about how to get there.
To someone who knows about WDW transportation (I Don't) would it be easier to get from POP to the GF (pirate cruise) or from POP to the YC (albatross cruise) for 9:30am?
Thank you
Suzy V.

The parks open at 9, the transportation starts running about an hour before the parks open, right?

Take a bus at 8 to MGM (for the YC) or MK (for the GF). Now the fun part starts.

You can walk from MGM to YC but it will take some time. Take the walking path to the Boardwalk (it is on the left side as you face the parking lot from the park). When you reach the Boardwalk, keep going around the path past the Swan/Dolphin and continue to the YC. You can catch a boat from MGM to YC, but the boat is slow and that will also take some time. You should be OK if you got on the bus at 8 AM or so.

For the GF, when you get to the park walk from the bus stops to the small boat dock just opposite the monorail station and take the launch to the GF. The launch will go directly there and drop you off at the pier. If you take the monorail, you will have to go all the way around the circuit, get off at the GF and then find the boat dock. I am not clear as to whether the pirate cruise leaves from the pier where the launch stops or from the dock where they keep the rental boats. The dock is not far from the pier, just on the other side of Narcoosees restaurant.

Or, spring for a cab if you are running late or really want to be sure you're on time. I paid $15 once (don't think it included the tip, so it was really more) to go from Pop Century to the GF.

This also works for POR. Remember that POR has several bus stops within the resort that your bus will visit. This will add a bit more time if you get on the bus at one of the earlier stops.

Thank you so much for the info.

By using WDW transportation, from what you have posted its looks easier to get to the GF from POP. Is that your thought also?
Thanks
Suzy V
