Hi - I dont know if anyone can help me! We are planning on going the Alaskan Cruise next year and having a hard time making our minds up about excursions! In Juneau we would like to do two but although they say how long they are they give no clue as to timings! We are looking at doing Taku Lodge (5 glacier trip?) and would love also to do the Mendenhall Glacier trip (white water). Any one know timings offered?

It will be more easier to check the activities for you if you have the excursion codes from the DCL site. I hope I have the right ones:

Enchanted Taku Glacier Lodge Flight (JU48) at 10:15 and 12:15

Mendenhall Glacier Float Trip (JU15) at 7:45 and 11:15

I am not sure if other times were offered but got fully booked. Hope this helps! Have fun planning!!

Do you think it would be doable to do the 7.45 Medenhall and then 12.15 Taku one? Anyone done these two or similar timings and did they work out?
Thank you AngelDisney:)

I haven't done these two tours specifically but I know that when I was looking at excursions for Alaska, it was near impossible to do more than one DCL excursion in any one port (in Skagway we were able to do the train in the morning and dog sledding in the afternoon.) Not only do you have time padded in the excursion for the meet time but DCL requires 90 minutes (or is it 2 hours) between excursions to be able to book more than one. So I'm going to doubt you'll be able to do both if the biggest gap is 7:45 for one and 12:15 for the other.

You could always book your excursions independently. That gives you much more control and flexibility.

Last summer I had a seven night cruise and eight nights post-cruise by car of interior Alaska.

Taku Lodge Feast & 5-Glacier Seaplane Discovery Tour was my favorite excursion of the whole trip. I booked in advance directly with Wings Airways. Booking directly saves $30, you walk to the float plane dock rather than getting on a little bus (it was a very easy 5-10 minute walk), times are offered are earlier or later in the day (I think they save prime lunch time for the people who book directly with the cruise ship). The earlier excursion meant an 11:00 am lunch, bonus was breakfast scones. The food was so good! Some people see a bear, I did not.

After the excursion, I went on the tram to the top of Mt Roberts and walked around. Then I took a shuttle (bought at the pier) to the Mendenhall Glacier and walked the one mile from the parking area to get a closer view.

Got back to the ship in time to relax in the hot tub before dinner.
