If you’re on the 9 day Alaska leaving next Monday (July 9) it looks like a lot of rain. Forecast for Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan appears to be rainy for most of the trip, so bring those foulies.
We’ll see you there.

Not on that cruise, but I have done the first DCL cruise of Alaska season a few years ago. We had a fair amount of rain, but had gone prepared. Alaska is so gorgeous, rain OR shine. And the way the mist lays onto the mountains when it is rainy is sooooooo lovely. Have FUN!!!

June in Alaska we had rain, sun, clouds...repeat! it can be hot on deck by the pools when the sun comes out and the windbreakers on either side. Take a camera, binoculars and eat a Mickey Bar for me.

We went to Alaska in August, so I'm not sure if the weather is different. But we were very fortunate during the whole cruise. We may have had a little sprinkle in Ketchikan, but that was the extend of any rain. It was sunny most port days. Our tour guide in Skagway mentioned that they received heavy rain for the past few days including the day before we arrived. It was so bad that one of the ships couldn't dock. But as soon as we arrived, it was sunny and warm. I believed him. On our way to the train excursion, the area looked like it was just flooded.

You can't predict the weather, in a matter of hours it could be raining heavy or misting or sunny. As long pp mentioned, as long as you're prepared, you'll enjoy your trip.

We are on that cruise too! We are from Oregon so the rain is nothing for us. Can’t wait!!

Our first cruise to Alaska was in early June and it rained off and on. Yes we brought (and bought) rain gear for the weather. Coming from New Mexico, it was great to experience rainy days.

I was born in Southeast Alaska. Until I was old enough to learn better, I truly thought the sky was grey and clouds were blue.

We cruised in early June this year. The days before the cruise, every port (and even Endicott Arm) had a forecast of chilly rain for the days we would be there. But after a chilly embarkation day and first day at sea, we had amazing luck with the weather, with only a bit of rain in Skagway. Lots of blue skies everywhere else, inlcuding on glacier day and Juneau day, and even in Ketchikan. The cruise director kept talking about what great good luck we were having with the weather despite the dismal predictions of earlier in the week. We never used the ponchos or the other special rain gear we brought. We just used one little umbrella, one time.

So you never know. Maybe the weather will turn out well after all.

I was about to echo what @Shanti said! We were on the 6/18 sailing, also had rain forecasted, and we had warm, sunny skies in Vancouver, Juneau, Skagway, and even in Endicott Arm. Some people were wearing jackets on deck on Endicott Arm day, but with the sun - I was fine in long sleeves and no jacket. (And I live in Phoenix!!) Ketchikan was chilly and cloudy for us, but we only had the vaguest bit of drizzle for a few minutes. Meanwhile, I had to do laundry to wash shorts outfits b/c it was too hot for pants nearly every other day. And the rain jackets I bought? Only one was used, by DD13 whose regular jacket was MIA when we were in Ketchikan (yup - was having an excursion of its own in lost and found at guest services). So my Phoenix household is now in possession of 4 rain jackets (3 with tags still on) that are past the return date, and 3 new pairs of expensive waterproof hiking shoes we never really needed but wore "just in case" on excursions. Oh well!

Parts of Alaska are considered a rain forest. If you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes and it will change.
