I mean on your drive up...are u driving all the way or taking a break and staying the night at a hotel....
Most likely taking a break. Not sure where yet.

Hi, I just discovered the DISboard last week and this Meeting thread. Our group of 8 will be onboard 7/19. Is it too late to meet up with the rest of this thread group?

Also just found out what a FE is. Looks like we missed the cutoff. But have read about a DISboards lanyard. How do we get a lanyard so we can meet some of you all?!

I will be in Vancouver before hand and was thinking of eating at the Fish House too. Do I need to scroll thru all 153 pages to find out where every one is meeting and events that are happening before, onboard and after the cruise?

Thanks for your patience with this last minute newbie!

I still have the last batch of lanyards to make. If you want to give me first names, I can customize them. If you don't feel comfortable posting them here, you can email them to me (tom@wdwinfo.com).

I got your email and will get your lanyards made!

Can you choose?? I thought whatever age you are the day you get on board is where you're "assigned".

Yes you can choose. They allow anyone to do it but they recommend that if you are younger and going into a older group they say it would be better if you should know someone before you go into that group. In this case I dont know anyone but this wont be the first time. on the 20th of july last year i turned 13 and i did not know anyone so i decided to go to the younger kid group.

FOUND MY MAGNET SHEETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now i can make MAGNETS!!!

This must be new because they never before have let the Tweens into the teen club before. Except on the day they do a switch out where the Tweens go into the teens club and vise verse ...they have always been strict about this....

I know kids have always snuck in there and said they were older....they don't
always check but when they do they boot you....happened to my son
twice...the one that is now heading on 15....

This is why they started the tween club because so many were trying to get into the teen club because they did not want to hang with the younger kids...but the teens started complaining about the 12 and 13 y.o in there so
they made the tween club also.

So not sure if it is a choice as it is who is garding the gate....:cheer2:

Also parents always ask if their younger kids can hang with the older ones in the other clubs and they have said sorry they can't....if ones birthday is right around the corner like within a month of the cruise they will at times make an exception....

branden however has gone into the teens club when he was not of age but he also is very tall so he looked older than what he was ...Michael however they booted....but he also liked the tween club so no big deal...he is really looking forward to being in the teens this time around :cool1:

No it is not new they allow it but you just have to talk to the counselors. but most likely im gonna go to the Vibe:cool1:

When i was on a seven night cruise there was an 8 year old in ocean quest and we told the counselors about it and they said that he was allowed because his brother was in this age group. they only allow you to go down age groups if your birthday was less then two weeks ago from your cruise.

I thought my daughter would be able to go to the teen club with my son who will be 17 next month but I just realized she is too young. She will not be 14 until November but she starts High School this year. I know they would check out the club while we ditch them for the adult activities if they are together but seperate, I don't know. She won't want to hang out with the 11 and 12 years old. I have to see if they will let her in. She will not be there alone. My son will be doing the big brother thing and keeping an eye on her.

Hi All!

It sure is getting busy around here... Anyone else really started packing in earnest yet or is it just me:rotfl:.

I did have a question I want to put to my more seasoned DCL travellers... We will be doing brunch on our first sea day (Wed. @ 11) in Palo and I don't know what to pack for this clothing wise. How dressy is brunch? Will the DH be ok in a button down short sleeved, collared shirt (I got him the DCL art print shirt they have at Disneyland in the DCL store located in the old Bank of America location and the matching Ladies t shirt for me) and nice jeans or dockers?

How about me? What are you gals wearing for brunch? Advice is appreciated :).

Oh, and regarding the teen/tween discussion, personally I think it is totally unfair that DCL practices such blatent age descrimination. I like video games! I like watermelon eating contests! I like making Flubber! Heck, I even like juice, cookies and naps! But just because I am a tad over the "age limit" I am unashamedly denied participation in these activities.

It is unfair I tell ya...

In all seriousnes, I am glad that they are allowing kids on the cusp to choose where they feel they fit best. Smart idea IMHO.

Now, back to struggling with the luggage monster. Oh and if anyone is interested, I started a pre trip report - my very first ever! So, if you have a moment pop over and give it a read. I will be adding to it today and will also be adding pictures soon. I plan on covering the drive to Vancouver as well as the cruise prep and the cruise itself.

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Yes we've started packing in fact we're almost done. Good thing too because we're leaving tomorrow & our plane leaves in just over 13 hours from now! :woohoo:

I think a button down s/s collared shirt w/ dockers should be fine for Palo Brunch for your DH. I've been several times & I dress fairly casual like in capris & a nice shirt. In fact Wed. the 20th is our 20th anniversary & I believe Allen & I are booked at Palo Brunch for 11 am too.

The luggage monster has struck. :sad2: We were going to try to get by with 2 checked bags on the way out & 3 on the way back. But alas even after pulling out several items. We're going with 3 checked bags on departure & 4 checked bags on return trip and two of those bags are 28".

Just noticed on the official passenger list our room #5520 is not listed.
Since we're not doing FE it probably isn't that big of a deal.

Won't be long now. :thumbsup2 Back to packing. :goodvibes

Thanks Diane, We're leaving in 30 min for the airport. Very excited. Looking forward to meeting everyone @ Diversions on the 19th.

Wishing you all safe travels too!

See you there!:thumbsup2

Sorry I missed your post and if you read this on your lap top pro ad or what ever...have an awesome beginning trip....:woohoo:

We leave in 4 days and today is a very busy day for me since I have like nothing ready...lol...my 14 y.o said not to worry because like him I will do what needs to be done....he said I will do it because I have to.....I started smiling because I learned that he at least listened and learned something that I have always said to him :lmao:

I am siting here with my coffee at 10am and in about 30. Minutes my hectic day will begin.

Still trying to get my 14 yo with OCD among other issues to let me take him shopping for cruise clothing...he also...he said he will go but without me...he will go with his dad...if not he will wear jeans and nice clean designer sweat shirts and nice shoes...no time to argue with him....my 17 yo has already gone shopping with me and we always have a great time.

DH walks around the store with a DUH look on his face so need to go with him again and I still need to go back....

Than there's packing and hope I don't run into the same problem Sharon did :eek: :goodvibes

See ya later....
