Alaska July 23, 2012

I would love to do Fish Extenders, but I'm going to have to pass because of the luggage weight restrictions. I'm already a bit concerned about how I will get all of the warmer clothes we'll need to fit in the suitcases. This trip is definitely sneaking up on me!

We are excited for the cruise! We are celebrating my parents' 50th anniversary...my family, my sister's family and my parents. Can't wait!

I know the Disney ones are not up for booking just yet, but anyone book anything outside of the Mouse?

We are doing a Yukon tour with Chilkoot tours in Skagway, otherwise we haven't booked anything else yet.

Looks like I'll be joining you all with DS (16). First trip to Alaska, and while I know the port times are short, I'm really looking forward to being back on the Wonder. :cool2:

Officially checked in and a few excursions booked:banana: This is starting to seem real! When is this thread going to pick up?

This is our first cruise, and first time to Alaska. Leaving out of Chicago (on flights booked with miles). Look forward to excursion planning that everyone will be doing. So far we have booked on DCL excursion in Skagway (Yukon Suspension Bridge, City and White Pass Railway) and one independent excursion in Juneau (Harv and Marv whale watching). The Bear Country and Wildlife Expedition that we wanted to do in Ketchikan is already sold out, so we need to find something else to do.

Haven't booked our flights yet. We are flying out of Chi Town too. I'm officially checked in and started booking a couple of excursions. My family loves Deadliest Catch so we are doing the Crabbing excursion in Ketchican. We booked a Palo brunch on Victoria day. There are so many options!
Remember - only so many spots are booked online. There are usually openings after embarkation. We will probably do the White Pass Railway in Skagway.

I can't think of a better way to celebrate an awesome milestone! Are you interested in doing the FE thing?

So far there are about 10 families on this thread for a possible FE list # 1. If anyone prefers to stay out of the FE, let me know, otherwise we can close the list so it stays manageable. As this thread buids, another FE list can begin. For those who don't know what an FE is, there are several threads on the topic. It makes the cruise a little more magical. I will supply the spreadsheet at a latter date once missing info is filled in. :coffee:

I just ordered our little pockets for doing the FE with everyone ... so excited to experience everything on our first Disney cruise. :)

Hmm.... I wasn't planning on doing FE, but with these numbers it's doable. Last couple of times I did FE was a Panama Canal cruise, which involved bringing a separate box just for FE gifts and allocating a couple of hours for distribution - I think there were 140 or so cabins. It was a bit of work, but on the other hand the amount of loot we got was amazing. I think the cabin stewards made out like bandits that cruise, as I doubt anyone brought everything home :rolleyes1

One question I have - how would we handle anyone doing port upgrades? The alaska cruises don't seem to be selling out, and I probably will try for an upgrade at the port.....

Hi PurdueMouse!! Unfortunately due to weight restrictions for flying we won't be able to the FE:sad2:, but would love to get together with everyone!!:grouphug: We are celebrating my husband's 60th birthday:bday: a little early on this cruise. Our room # is 2510. Our travel party inculdes me (Laura),my husband Bob,Andrew who is 13, and Shane who will be 12 in a couple of weeks. This will be our 5th cruise and I can't wait to plan the next one!!!:dance3:

I was wondering the same thing. If I don't get upgraded when I get my cruise docs, I was going to ask at the port.

I suppose if anyone is sure they are keeping their cabin, they could volunteer to have a change list on their door? So anyone who upgrades could put up a note and we'd all check the list before giving things out?

Oh, and I will need your cabin number when you know it.

Hello, I have just discovered this site and I am going on this same cruise! I was wondering if I could join the FE group? It sounds awesome and I have seen them on previous cruises but I did not realize what they were used for!

My cabin number is 7625. Elizabeth (15), Kathleen (13), Lauren (10), and Michael (6) are the names.

Thanks!! I'm so excited!

You are most welcome to join. I have a 13 year old too. Her name is Andi (Andrea). I'll put you on the list.

I am traveling with my mom and two daughters. This is our second Disney cruise. What is the fishing thing? Any recommended excursions?

Welcome aboard! You may have noticed on your first cruise that some people decorate their doors with magnetic pictures, etc. and have little fabric pouches to put things in. I think it is called a fish extender because it attaches to the "fish" hook next to your cabin door. Interested cruisers form groups and deliver small gifts and treats. Let me know if you wish to be in the group.

I see you are new to this site. There is much to explore. There are some great threads on the discussion forum about Alaska excursions.
