Alaska Inside or Oceanview?

During our entire alaska cruise I felt the boat moving twice and that's it. It wasn't even a lot of movement, just a "oh yea, we are moving" kind of feeling.

Rather than move to an inside room, I would move to a less expensive cruise line with a better Alaskan itinerary that includes Glacier Bay. DCL hasn't been able to get the permits to cruise in there. Since there's land on both sides of the ship so much of the time, I would want a window to watch for any wildlife or scenery, even for the limited amount of time you're planning to spend in your room.

This 9-night cruise goes to Hubbard Glacier. It's a special cruise itinerary, which is why it's more expensive. And we love DCL- it's perfect for my son at his age. We both like the characters and the ships' activities. I like the classic ocean liner style of the DCL ships, and also appreciate how effectively they cater to my son's gluten-free diet. I am totally open to cruising other lines in other circumstances, but for this particular cruise, we want to cruise on the Disney Wonder.

It doesn't go to Glacier Bay. It goes to Hubbard Glacier. You can google Glacier bay vs. Hubbard Glacier to see the difference.
Okay, I'll amend that in my earlier post. Either glacier is fine with me. Very excited about the cruise!

I didn't read all the comments but I wanted to say: we had an interior and loved it. No issues at all. Level 7 near the front. Other than naps or sleep, we were never in our room. Sure we could have gone with a different cruise and gotten more but it's Disney. Our kids were in heaven which meant I was in heaven. In fact I didn't even like the layout of the ocean views and verandah rooms. The moment you walked in the room it felt like you ran into the bed. We really liked that the sitting area was towards the front of the room in the inside rooms.

We cruised to Alaska in June 2016 on Deck 2 with an "Ocean View" window.

We were almost never in the room. On the one hand, it was nice to be able to look outside when we were in the room, but on the other hand we probably could have saved the extra money and spent it on excursions instead. If you've cruised with an inside room before and enjoyed it, then I think it would be the same for the Alaska cruise.

This pretty much echoes my reasoning. We weren't traveling with kids, but we love Disney, so there's the "big kid" aspect, too. But otherwise, your sentiments exactly echo mine.

I slept in the room, and hung out on deck.

I'm going again next year, and going with an inside stateroom again.

To save money on excursions check out trip advisor reviews and privately book. You'll save slot of money and in many cases get a better experience. We did that for 3 excursions. We never were even close to being late for the boat.

my pareants saw sealife out of their level 2 windows on another cruiseline in Alaska. We just got back form DCL Norway and had a 9C (slightly smaller window than 9b). I debated trying for a port upgrade to balcony. Glad I didn't. 9c was just fine for us. It's a good compromise between inside and balcony IMHO. We really like to see outside. OTOH, if it means skipping an excursion, then get an inside. For any great scenery, you'll want to be up on deck anyway.

We've done the Alaskan cruise in an inside stateroom 3 times. We were hardly ever in the room. There was so much to see and do. The seas are also a lot calmer sailing out of Vancouver vs. Seattle. You'll enjoy it.

We had the calmest seas I've ever experienced sailing out of Seattle back in late May.
