I know there are quite a few threads on Alaska excursions but I was hoping to get some recommendations on specifically fishing excursions booked outside of DCL. Can anyone recommend any? Is it better to fish in a certain port over another? I have 3 boys who can't wait to catch large salmon or halibut.

Hi! We just returned from Alaska and had a wonderful trip with Rum Runner excursions in Juneau. We booked it outside of DCL, as this was our second Alaskan cruise and I felt more comfortable doing so this time around. We did the 6 hour fishing and whale watching trip and it was wonderful. We had fabulous weather, the captain, Josh, was really great with my boys who are 15, 15, and 16. He was also quite patient with my daughter who is 5. Everyone had a great time and the guys caught some nice salmon. This was a nice cabin cruiser type boat (I am not a boat person, so maybe not the correct name) with a bathroom on board.

Three years ago when we traveled, we used DCL to book a fishing trip for myself and the boys. They used Brandoff in Ketchikan, and we were on a little 24-ish foot skiff. We had a great time on that one too. But, Ketchikan is super rainy and it was cold that day. But the boys caught some halibut, flounder, and a rockfish. So they were thrilled. I was very happy with their services as well.

Thank you, I just sent them a booking request! What other excursions did you happen to do? We are interested in snorkeling, dog musher camp and zip lining.
