Our original flight home from Seattle just got cancelled. I'm trying to figure out a new option. For those familiar with travel from Vancouver to Seattle. Is it realistic to think we could get off the ship and make a 3:25pm flight in Seattle? We would be driving in a rental car. It will be Memorial Day and I'm also not sure if that will have an effect on travel times crossing the border. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Not remotely realistic.

Pier to rental car.

Queue for car.

Private car line over the border.

Traffic.

That 1:30 bus time is also a lie.
We would already have the rental car and it would be parked at Canada place. Already have a round trip rental car reservation and parking reserved at Canada place. Our original flight was supposed to leave Seattle at 5:45pm.

I'd honestly just invest in a hotel that night and fly out the next day (most airlines will allow a one-time change to another flight within 24 hours if they make a change that significant to your booked flight).

While this would be easiest it is not an option for us. Husband has to be back to work the next day and does not have a job he could do remote.

I think I may just cancel the flights we had planned and rental car and book new flights direct to Vancouver. We will have to go out from an airport further from home and it will be more expensive but the timing would be better.

During COVID?

Border is a lot weirder these days.
No, but we have found every time we've used them (3 DCL cruises up and back) they have been honest with the schedule. Previously there were more stops and the 4.5 hr time was accurate. Also the bus has a separate customs gate that they use and the process is very efficient. The schedules are already modified for COVID and no reason for them to post a time that they can't meet or they will have a lot of PO'd customers.

Just keep in mind that if you fly from Canada into the US your government is still enforcing covid tests. So you would need to do that upon disembarking the ship at the terminal and results can take up to 2 hours to get.

Or you can take proctored tests the day before -- using test kits you've ordered and brought from home and the ship's wifi. The test needs to be done no more than 1 day before the flight.

But you don't need a test or proof of Vax to drive. That is weird....
