Right now is $11,500 for a Veranda in 2016 for a family of four. Do you think it will be any cheaper when they release 2017 prices?

We initially priced out a cabin for mid-June. We moved it 3 weeks earlier to save $1,000 for the same room category.

Negative. Prices for 2017 will almost certainly be higher. Alaska cruises are some of the most popular that Disney offers. On a per person per day cost, they are some of the most expensive cruises that Disney offers. We did one in 2011, the first year. It was nice, however not worth the prices that they are now charging. We booked a similar cruise on Celebrity for next year and the cost was less than half of the cost that Disney was asking. I will repeat that, less than half, less than 50% for a premium cruise line, with a drink package that includes alcohol, on a ship of similar size and age that was totally re-imagined this past October. (The Wonder is still essentially the same as it was in 1999, with no major upgrade/overhaul yet announced) We have loyally cruised Disney exclusively for the last 8 years, usually taking at least 2 sometimes 3 cruises a year. We just cannot justify the cost anymore, especially with all of the recent changes that have generally decreased the value for price paid factor.

well said & i agree

We have kids that will be 13 and 6. What are cruise lines do you recommend? Hubbard and Glacier Bay get wonderful reviews.

RCCL and NCL will have extensive kids programming and more kids, but all lines will have a fair amount of kids in the summer. All cruise lines will have kids/teens progams throughout the cruise. Mid-June thru mid-Aug. will have more kids. My kids really like Princess-their 2nd choice after DCL. Your 13 yr old would like the Princess nightime movies by the pool (with blankets and popcorn). They are usually PG, PG13 movies, sometimes tamer R. FYI--some Holland America ships have very good rates for 3rd and 4th in the same cabin. We love DCL, but will go with another line for Alaska, as I can't justify the price, esp. when you are in port almost everyday. I don't know if Princess has Verandah's for 4 persons. We just get an outside for 4 with bunks over our beds, which we leave as singles to have more room. We would rather be up on deck anyway and wouldn't spend the $ for a balcony (which we rarely used when we got one) even if they do fit 4 persons.
