ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

Got another $45 credit from DCL yesterday. Also order my Disney Visa Rewards card to help pay for the excursions. Been saving for over a year knowing this cruise was coming up. Every little bit helps!

Saw we had a $ 30 credit on the stateroom and also transfered our Disney Dollars from our visa card to our rewards card - we are really set now :cool1:

Hello Everyone, I haven't posted here before but I am a big Disney fan and have been watching all of your great comments on this posting. Our son has a tree nut and peanut allergy so it's the only company we trust when travelling. This will be our first cruise :)

I wanted to let everyone know of a great and less expensive option if people are looking for a helicopter tour. We have booked a tour in Juneau with era helicopters: eraflightseeing.com/content/index_eng.html

They drop you off on a glacier for 15 minutes...eeeee...so exicited. But I wanted to mention that we found a coupon at toursaver.com that is a 2 for 1 deal. Hope that we may see some of you on our flight...it will be three of us (Annette, Kooper and Matt).

thank you for all of the great information on the Northern Lights...see u on the cruise.

I just want to let you know that my daughter Jamie (now 19) has a peanut allergy also, and she has been cruising on Disney since 1998 (and has cruised about 20 times).

DCL will bend over backwards taking care of your son and his allergy! They will actually prepare his meal separately from the others so as not to get in contact with any possible nut product and will discuss it with you thorougly the very first night of your cruise and when pre-ordering your dinners for future nights.

Make sure to give the kid's club a heads up too, but it will already be in his record (as long as you faxed the form into DCL like you are suppose to do).

Looking forward to cruising with you. Welcome!

I'm going to check out our visa bill. Hubby pays all the bills now (I handed over that job a few months ago), so, I'm not sure if we received a credit or not. He doesn't tend to look very carefully. I always check before the payment goes out.

ooooh Are we able to still participate in the FE? I was sure that I had waited too long, not knowing if I would have the time to put anything together. My girlfriend partipated last year and thought it was great!

Annette, will look forward to seeing both you and Kooper on board. Are yoy planning on meeting all of us in the Promenade lounge on the first day? Haven't decieded yet if I will bring the whole fam or just myself on Tues. Maybe the boys can meet there if they haven't already in the kids clubs.

Please give Paula you info for FE. I can definately add you to our gifts we are making!

Marni

Well for me you will be on my list since you have Kooper:) - gonna add you if paula hasn't added you to our roster so I can get the cabin number.

"Spring and fall nights are the best time to see the aurora. Although the aurora is always present, even in summer, it is not visible unless the skies are dark. Sunlight and even bright moonlight can make the aurora difficult to see."

been to school on Northern Lights, a little magic is all we need. :wizard:

Me Too! I am also changing some of the money I put aside for excursions and shopping into the sam's gift cards - bonus GC for Disney store!:thumbsup2

Due to some printer crankiness :headache: - I'm two short of the handmade element of our FE gift, so will have to go out & get more supplies. At least the magnet paper was cooperative - printed out 3 so far & may do a couple more if we can make/find designs we like.

The good news - so I should be able to make up a gift pack for KoopersMom and our other last minute cruise pals! 3 of the 4 other items have extras, just in case & 1 item (custom postcards) we got 50 of, so those may get shared with other decorated cabins outside of our bunch as well! :thumbsup2

We decided to discuss the history of the Disney Cruise Lines for our next podcast episode (comes out a week before we leave) - so have been doing some research. Would love to hear from anyone who cruised on the Big Red Boat back in the late 80's - early 90's to see how that compares with DCL nowadays!

Was talking to my Mom about this and asked her if she had seen the NLights. She said "yes". I asked "where?" she replied "Illinois" I said "WHATTTT!!!"

I thought you could only see them from AK since they are called Northern Lights.:confused3

Gonna have to google this but do appreciate the info.

See and people ask what you get from a Disney Cruise - an Education!:rotfl2:
and some fun.:cheer2:

I had printer crankiness too! and NONE of my stuff has come out as I wanted it to. so am just going with the flow and making adjustments. I wasn't a happy camper last weekend.

Wow! How cool is that. One of these days I will log on to listen. I would be interested to hear about the BRB as I hadn't realized there was such a thing. My first DCL experience was in 2006 so this has been very fun and Educational!

Am I right that I just click on the link in your signature and will get it? For some reason my computer here at work is acting up again. Shhh I did say I was "working" :rotfl2:

Guess I will have to log off and on again to check.:)

Yep, I've been doing that too and already spent the DS cards! ;)

WOW! Don't think we'll be that close and our boat is a bit bigger, but their comments were dead on!

Annette, I will be more than happy to add your family to the list. The close out date was 8/1, but please understand that you may not get a gift from everyone if they have already completed their purchases:) You can send me a pm with your information or post it here. I need your stateroom and the persons and ages of children in your cabin:goodvibes
Thank you Paula and I completely understand that we may miss a few gifts :)

Our stateroom is 5136 (deck 5)
In the room is my husband Matt, my Son Kooper and myself - Annette :) Kooper is 7 1/2

Thank you so much!!!

They just showed on our news station in Utah and thought I'd come on and post link. See its' already here.

That little boat sure tried to haul a** out of there. The black smoke from the engine was sure heavy out the back end. Too bad a lady broke her leg.

The Disney Wonder won't get quite that close and I imagine would hardly rock our ship since we are so big!

I hope we get to see a piece of Glacier break off, that would be incredible to see/

Loved the deal, but when I checked it looks like you have to buy the coupon book for $99. Is that correct?

Ok, here's another question for those of you who have been planning excessively as I have. ;)

In Juneau, I know we can take the Blue Bus to Mendenhall Glacier for $16 pp round-trip. Has anyone read anything about a one-way price? Even their web site only mentioned round-trip. Our Whale Watching tour company will pick us up at the glacier, but can't decide the best way for 5 of us to get there. Thanks for any help you may offer!

I looked into this and you can buy one way tickets for half at the docks.

Yep - that link takes you to our homepage - you can listen to previous episodes from there, check out our "Town Directory" and subscribe to the show via iTunes, among other stuff.

Not to make you jealous or anything :) but about 10 years ago, I saw a FANTASTIC Aurora Borealis display over Lake Michigan - so sometimes they do creep down to the Lower 48.
