ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

Tracy, you could always save a couple to a disk and have them printed at one of those self serve kiosks---just a thought.

Very LAZY morning here, I need to head to Dollar Tree later today (I have a 3 page list from the stores).

One of my cruise friends (from Michigan) called last night to tell me he is in Seymour IN for a few days (about 45 minutes away). We are going to try to meet for dinner Thursday night:cool1::cool1::cool1:

They moved me up to a 9 out of an 11 so I'm not surprised there are 11s open.

I'll bring a POTC tee shirt but there's always the possibility I can get into Palo for a second dinner on pirate night...

You guys are guilting me into working on my door magnets. ;)
I just did our name and a cruise magnet. It helps my kids find the door. Don't worry about it too much. You have a whole group your organizing.

Sometimes I work so hard on the vacations we go on and details I forgot about relaxing and just hanging with my family.

Thanks, but we always do door magnets (just usually not until the last minute). We'll re-use some of ours but need some Alaska themed ones to replace our Castaway ones. ;)

The good thing about Alaska (especially with this heat wave is I know I won't want to wear any of the clothes for at least the next month)

I packed my shirts today and the pirate one made the final cut:rotfl::rotfl:

Now trying to narrow down my dinner/Palo clothes.

My kitchen closet door looks really bare without my FE hanging on it.

I am awaiting that Aug 1 FE Deadline before I start any of my magnets and such in case I have to run back to the store to get more supplies.

I have my Palo/semi formal dresses - I plan to wear these to formal night too since I have to watch my weight - on my suitcase.:rotfl:

I have a pirate hat pirate:in storage from my 96 trip so I may bring that - depends on the shape it is in and if I have room. I may do a iron on t -shirt for pirates.

I had already packed all my clothes but have decided to redo it and wait til it gets closer to get a better idea of the temps. When I was in WDW in Dec 2010 it was very very cold ~ my sister and I wore a long underwear long sleeve shirt, another long sleeve shirt and then a short sleeve shirt and then our jackets. She actually wore two pairs of jeans with her long underwear! So I am thinking I am gonna need to see what the temps are like before I decide.

:sad2:Still not docs yet - so loving the posts you all are doing and sharing!

Piikea, I purposely booked Palo for formal night to save on my packing + I like the semi formal menu better than the formal.

We were in WDW Dec '10 and it was FREEZING!!!!! 60 degrees and I am fine in capris, flip flops & L/S tees---50's needs way more warmth especially on my feet (then I have to pack socks:scared1: & real shoes:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:)

Worked with a rep today who just got back from a non-DCL Alaska cruise, she said she wore a sweater but didn't need any more. She also said others, especially from the south were looking for gloves and heavy jackets. One day they flew up to the arctic circle, it was 85 degrees. :confused3

Tracy Arm was like a wind tunnel, said it was great going in and coming out and thought there just wasn't a lot of ice. Remember we just came off a winter where we were measuring snow in feet not inches, not hard to think Alaska didn't have much when you compare that to what we went through, 27-35 inches of ice on lakes. :santa:

She could not say enough however about how great the trip was

85 degrees and Arctic circle shouldn't be in the same sentence:rotfl2::rotfl2:

From what I have been reading from posts, it seems it starts to get colder in August---guess it's gonna be a crap shoot:confused3

For non-dinner related wear, layering is the ticket. I'll have jeans, tee shirts, a couple of sweatshirts, a fleece jacket and a rain/windbreaker. Plus a hat, gloves and scarf in case they are needed for excursions or being on deck.

LOL - no kidding! I decided to swap suitcases with my husband, so of course had to test-pack again & things got a bit tight, esp when I remembered the FE gifts

So I think I'm going to take a second-carry on for the trip Out West with our clothes for the 3 days pre-cruise & then check the bag on the way back (yay for Southwest & 2 bags fly free!) - we have a small rolling duffel from the WDW World of Disney Store that will be just the ticket!

Finished the rest of the travel reservations - Amtrak from Portland to Vancouver, QuickShuttle from Vancouver to Seattle, where we'll stay out by the airport before flying home the next day - it was too tight a squeeze time-wise to try to fly on our disembarkation day. Besides, we had enough hotel points to stay for free! :thumbsup2

Still waiting on our cruise docs - if we don't get them by the weekend, I'll be checking in w/my TA...

Totally Agree - and 85 degrees! I wish.

I totally agree about it getting colder in August. It was for our last trip in 2009 but we didn't do tracy arm because it was fogged in so for me that is my biggest concern. Crap Shoot is right - right now I am packing everything and the kitchen sink :scared1: gotta rethink this.

I am thinking kinda like you but am gonna skip the sweatshirts and do long underwear t shirt, long sleeve t-shirt and short sleeve t-shirt that way I can wear them on the ship on those sea days I don't go outside. Also easier to pack. I have the gloves and scarf but thanks for the reminder - gotta go find my hat.

Lucky for you with the 2 bags! I can't figure out if I have to pay or not (am thinking yes) since we are flying on Air Canada - not cost first bag - but it is a United code flight - costs for both bags. Am gonna play it safe with the cost for two and hope I get lucky - then I have more spending money!

Me Too! can ya tell I am getting antsy and want those docs to come in! Still waiting on our TA..

Ugh~our local carrier just raised their first bag costs:mad: because the fuel costs went up and they are trying to recoup their losses - this quarter was in the red. I wish they had passed on the FAA savings to us:sad2:.

Are you flying back from Canada via United? We are too, and I could have sworn that there was no charge for the first bag on an international flight. I had better check that out again and make sure.
