i don't know about the rest of you west-coasters. But-for our September cruise we were originally booked for 3 separate flights out of oregon to get to orlando. this seemed crazy so i called looking for a nonstop. delta said they didnt have any. i called around and talked to an "alaska airlines" rep and she said they just added a new flight which is straight through at night to orlando. whats so exciting about this? I now get an EXTRA day at disneyworld. :]

i am not sure if this flight is actually "new" but if it is i just wanted to inform you westcoasters that it does exist. and if you already knew...sorrry

Alaska Airlines has a non-stop out of Seattle twice a day, once in the morning, once at night. We took the night-time flight back in September. Sweet...

It is true. I fly Alaska regularly from Oregon to California, but was notified in January that beginning September 9, 2007 there will be one daily non-stop to Orlando from Portland. It is a red-eye flight. However, as mentioned previously there are direct flights out of Seattle to Orlando and I think there are two, but both are during the day.

We took Alaska Air's red eye from Seattle to Orlando last month...although we were a bit tired upon arrival, we all perked up in the warm Florida air, rented our car and went straight to SeaWorld for breakfast!
Yes, it was like having an extra day to go to the parks and pay for one less night of hotel.
I will be doing this again in April with a friend using a $50 companion fare ticket from their visa card.
The direct flight is such a bonus! No changing planes or delays at an airport that could get snowed in!

Anyone know if the red-eyes are something you can check out online? I've looked before but have NEVER found it.

Alaska air has the BEST airline website out there (vote so, not just MHO!). Just go to their site and play with some dates to get some prices and timings on flights. They also fly to Miami, Wash DC, one of the NY airports, and of course Chicago. They partner with American, Continental, and Northwest (plus a few others) so there are lots of options. Voted best mileage plan too!

WHAT!!!! Every time I've price shopped there I get quotes of close to $500+ per person...for non-stop flights. Of course that's from Seattle...maybe I should check out what it would be from Portland....and of course for the red-eye. The ones I was quoted were for early morning (6-ish). I know flights can be lower on certian days of the week when compaired to others...what day are you flying out?

Okay...I just checked the site out...and AGAIN I don't see any listing for any red-eyes. PLUS when I checked out flying to Orlando from Portland...it said there'd be a plane change in SEATTLE If that's the case I wouldn't bother flying from Portland. Anyways...the lowest flights I could find right now....were for close to $400pp.

How far out did you look/book your flights? Were currently looking for Sept 07....so we've got some time. I was actually suprised to see they had flights this far out. I thought they used to do it more like 6 mos. out. ???

anywho....I guess I'll just have to keep checking.

Im flying out on September 19th 2007 on the redeye-so ill be there the morning of the 20th. Out of portland. the flight is brand new and i didn't even check the website, i just called up and asked. I didn't want to book right off the bat because i wanted to check dates-when i called back the next lady couldnt find it-but sure enough i called again and she could! i booked right away, and yeah, it was only 219 dollars? i'm thinkin because if it is new out of portland thats why its so cheap??!??!?!! but its a direct flight.

I'll check again.. I was checking later than that...I think I was checking flights from midnight till early am. I never thought of a red-eye as just a late night flight...but I guess it is . When are you cruising? That's just about when we'll be flying out also. Actually we're looking for Sept 17th so we can fit in a few days at the world before our Sept 22nd cruise

Okay...I just checked again And I found round trip...non stop flights for $217pp. That's WAY less than we were hopeing to find Almost 1/2. THANK YOU for that tip. Now to only come up with the $$ to book them.

What flights are you looking at? From Washington or Oregon? The cheapest I could find were over $400 for a non-stop from Seattle.

WOW! That seems high. We flew Anchorage - Seattle then took the non-stop 8 am-ish Orlando flight for about $425 per person total (ANC-MCO). This was last March, I booked in Nov-Dec. Fuel was much more expensive then too.

I wish they would run their "Kids Fly Free" special to WDW like they do to DL.

I'm pretty sure we are both looking at Alaska Airlines Red Eye flights for a little over 200 per person. Mine is out of PDX and i think that was what scrapperjill was also looking in to.

NO WAY!!! Have you gone over and checked out the cruise meet thread that's started? It's been failry quiet until this past week...but now it's starting to pick up. If you haven't gone over there you should go check it out. I'm guessing your planning to spend some days at the parks before the cruise? Where are you staying? We've only been to WDW once before (3nts in 2005) and stayed at POP that time. We're thinking about staying there again. After all we wern't in the room much at all.

Now to only talk everyone else in our party into booking the flights now. OH...I found the coolest thing on the Alaska site. They have group bookings for groups of 10 or more (which may be our group). Anyhow group booking only require a deposit to make the reservation
