Alaska ~ 8/13/12 ~ Midnight Sun Mouseketeers!

We second the dog sledding -- that is number one on our excursion list as well. We would especially like to do the dog sledding excursion that includes the helicopter ride out to the glacier.

We are still open on what other excursions we want to book but the others that looked interesting to us were zip lining (especially the waterfall one), the deadliest catch crab fishing, and horseback riding.

By the way, we are going to stay in Seattle for a few days ahead of time -- I currently have us booked at the Edgewater simply because I liked the way it looked, it was on the water and it is supposed to be nice. Does anyone know anything or has heard anything about it? Thanks!

The Edgewater is a historical place, because the Beatles and various other music groups stayed there. Plus, there are rooms over the water, where it is said you can fish outside your hotel window! We stayed one night, and the location is really ideal. It's right on the water, and a short walk away from places to see and places to eat. Our favorite is Old Spaghetti Factory, which is right across the street.

As for excursions, there is a great thread on the boards about Alaska excursions. I'm about halfway through, and it gives a lot of great reviews of various trips.

I thought of a great excursion for Jackson! There is a lumberjack show in one of the ports that is a short walk/ride from the ship. It lasts a short time and is a lot of fun, and they have a special thing for young kids. Check it out!

Stacy, thanks so much for the feedback on the Edgewater -- that was exactly what I was looking for!

yes, we will definitely be doing the lumberjack show. I am sure he will enjoy it but I am also looking forward to it also. Also a whale watch.

LESS THAN ONE YEAR TO GO

MIDNIGHT SUN MOUSEKETEERS

COUNT DOWN TO AUGUST 13, 2012

47 WEEKS

WE WILL BE BOARDING IN 329 daYS

Just got home from visiting the Wonder at San Pedro. We spent a lovely afternoon at a park across the water from the ship. Watched everyone on board milling around, heard the sail away show and then watched the ship head out to sea. Really makes the cruise a reality when you see the ship.

Forthe California people . remember today. It is in the 60's and overcast. So next year when we are thinking about what to wear on our cruise and it is 95 degrees outside remember we did need long sleeves and at least a sweater.

Welcome! It sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned. It is our second cruise too and first time in Alaska. My daughter Katie will be 13 at cruise time -- about the same age as your girls. Glad you joined our group!

the 9th family to join the Midnight Sun Mouseketeers! Welcome Claire, Chris, Laura and Melissa!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Claire, I have added your information to the roll call on the first page. If you want me to add anything else, like dining seating time, stateroom, or where you are from, just send me a PM and I'll put it in. :)

Beth

Ok, I'm going to rant for a few, so please forgive me.....but, I am so tired of people saying how the 2012 itinerary for Alaska is inferior to every other cruise line and DCL's 2011 itinerary. I guess one way to look at it is that maybe it will scare away some cruisers and we will have more of the boat to ourselves! :)

Rant off! lol
