Alaska ~ 8/13/12 ~ Midnight Sun Mouseketeers!

I hope everyone has had a great summer! Last bits of hurricane Irene coming thru here (just wet and windy no damage) and getting ready for the second storm which is the first day for students back at school on Monday!

Anyway, it looks like some good port news on official Disney sight. Now leaving Juneau at 2 pm and arriving at Victoria at 6:30 pm giving us some more port time

Joe

Hi Joe,

Thanks for letting us know about this good news! I've modified post 2 to reflect the new port times.

dec 11 2011. it should be fun and a good practice run . already getting clothes together. it will be a holiday cruise so different enough from Alaska

My children start school the day after Labor Day. Today, their school had an open house so they could meet their teachers and see their classrooms. I looked around their classrooms, checked out the nooks and crannies, and wondered about all of the conversations that would be happening within those walls. Let the second grade year begin! I'll miss them.

I love the start of the school year. Anticipatating greatness is in the air. Jackson started pre-preschool about a month ago. He loves it. My other grans are in Missouri and are having a great time enjoying not only their classes but all the fun of fall sports and activities.

LESS THAN ONE YEAR TO GO

MIDNIGHT SUN MOUSEKETEERS

COUNT DOWN TO AUGUST 13, 2012

49 WEEKS

WE WILL BE BOARDING IN 343 daYS

Off to New England for a few days. Hope to visit LL Bean for a 3/1 jacket for the trip.
We should think about whether we want to do FE exchange.

Hello all,
Check your final total on your bill and you might have a small surprise today.
According to my dreams unlimited travel agent due to some tax changes you may see a slight decrease in your total. Ours was about $40 dollars less. Also booked Sheraton for the day prior to the cruise.

Joe

We are doing one night at the Sheraton before the cruise, as well. I was seriously going to fly in the day of the cruise, but I keep reading that that is a really bad idea.

Can you book a hotel room this far out? Good to know!

I think we are going to extend our vacation after the cruise. We used to live in the Seattle area and would love to show the kids all our old hang out places. Not sure if they will like it, but that's another post...

Anyone start thinking excursions yet? I was thrilled to see we get more time in Victoria, but sad that it's on a Sunday night. I did some looking around the internet, and most attractions are closed early on Sunday night. They even offer an evening tea at the Empress on Saturday! It looks like Buchart Gardens are open late in the summer every night, so that may be an option for those of us getting off the ship. I'm thinking it may just be a night to get off the ship and have dinner somewhere. I can't remember what's on the menu on the ship the last night, so not sure if it would be worth it to eat off! Decisions, Decisions!

I'm very excited, though! If anyone needs help with Seattle ideas, ask away!

The only excursion I am sure of is a helicopter tothe glacier for my daughter to do. Jackson and I will wait on the ship for his mummy to return.
We are staying on the ship the last night for the "till we meet again celebration". The other excursions will probably pretty close to the ports - traveling with a 3yr old kinda limits the excursions. The more adventurous ones will have to wait until he is a bit older.

We booked at the Sheraton before the cruise too. Looks like several families on our Midnight Sun Mouseketeers thread will be there!

Anyone start thinking excursions yet?

There are many I am interested in. I am waiting to see what the other 2012 cruisers have to say about the excursions before I plan on doing any of them.

Dog sledding is the main thing I want to do, but if my husband and/or son don't want to do it, I probably won't.
