Alaska ~ 8/13/12 ~ Midnight Sun Mouseketeers!

Hello everyone! I'm sorry I have not been on in ages. Reading everyone's posts really make the cruise a reality! Since I've posted last we have booked our airfare from phl to Seattle and we recently booked our precruise hotel. We are staying at the Seattle Sheraton and are using Disney's transportation to make getting around a little easier since there is 5 in our immediate group and we are also traveling with my husband's mom and sisters. Alaska here we come!

We have started to look at excursions also and I have to do alot more research. We have 3 kids (ds(10), dd(7), and ds(3)) so price and age are restricting us somewhat. We definitely want to do the totem poles and lumberjack show, we are also depating about the gold mining with the Disney Character we thought the kids would love it.

I just went over some emails and I saw that the one from DCL said we could start booking in April (next month :cool1:) since we are on our 5th cruise and are now gold members....so excited!!!

I can't wait to book the Rainforest pass, it is my absolute favorite place on the ship. When we were on the Dream last year I also enjoyed it but the room on the Wonder and Magic I loved even more. Now my youngest can also enjoy the kids club so my husband and I can enjoy together instead on shifts, we can't wait!

Does anyone know if the will have the high tea at Palo? We tried to book it last year on the Dream but were not able to get in. I'm embarrassed to say that this is our 6th cruise and we have never been to Palo and I would love to give it a try, but I hate to leave our wait staff for dinner they always make it so special. I just realized in earlier posts I mentioned this was our 5th cruise but we have finished 5 cruises and Alaska is our 6th cruise I think it is officially past my bed time. sorry.

I was reading on a blog from somebody's Alaska cruise last year that they went to mojito tastings. Has anybody heard of these tastings and do you know how to book them? I thought something like this would be fun for my 2 sister in laws and myself to do. thanks for any info!

Sorry for all the blabbering. I hope nobody minded too much. I just figured I'd get my need posts in now so as our cruise gets closer and I may need to pm I will be able to. I hope everybody has a great week!

I'm so glad you made your 10 posts! Now you've got me thinking about using DCL transport from the ship to the airport when we disembark. Do they do the same thing (like they do in Port Canaveral) with select airlines about checking your bags through to their final destination if you use DCL transport from the ship to SEATAC? I haven't even thought about this!!!!

Our info is:

Alex & Stephanie Fitch

Room # 8538

I will also try and figure out how to PM you the info! LOL

Stephanie

Hi Everyone,

To get some clarity around what we need to do to book the private room in Palo for our group brunch, I called the shoreside concierge group today to discuss. What I learned was that they will take my request now which will probably give us the distinction of being the first group to request the room which will give us a little advantage. After I send them the request details they want me to reiterate the request when I talk to them at 120 days to book other activities and it will be officially submitted at that point. :thumbsup2

One thing to note is that we do not find out until 30 days prior to sailing if we were able to book the room or not. With that being the case, they suggest that any of the group that absolutely want Palo brunch ressies still make them at their window. If we do get the room then they can be released at the 30 day mark -- that way everyone will have a Palo brunch regardless.

Also, they noted that the room holds between 10 and 14 people with a minimum of 10. I think that means that we will have enough but could still take a couple of others if anyone who has not joined yet still wants to do so.

Sooo, to make the reservation I need to submit a request to the concierge group with my reservation number and then the full name of each guest that will be attending. Could I have everyone that wants to join please PM me with that info in the next 3 or 4 days? I will plan on submitting our request mid-week.

Getting in the cruise frame of mind now -- it seems so much closer now that we are planning fun stuff!

Stephanie, To PM, just go over to the left area of the screen and on a Disser's underlined name, click it, and then you'll see an option to send a private message to the person. Try that!

Beth

Thanks for the warm welcome! We are new to all of this, and I realized you need our stateroom number for the FE -- it's 6084. Thanks and just let me know if you need anything else!

:surfweb:Hi! I added your stateroom to the roll call. Do you know if you are first or second seating? That sometimes helps people try to not get "caught" if they deliver the FE during your meal time! No big deal though, if you don't know it! :)

We sail for Alaska in 21 weeks!

I'm not sure if you will be able to check in at the port when we disembark like we do in Port Canaveral. I sure hope so though. We are arriving 8/11 and Disney will pick us up at the airport and bring us to the Sheraton than on the 13th they will pick us up at the hotel and bring us to the port so just for the ease of all that with a big party we won't have to worry.

On a side note I was at the Disney store today and they had the cutest shirt for girls! It has Minnie (dd fav) and Mickey, it is very nautical looking and says S.S. Mouse. I picked it up for her and thought it would look great on for our embarkation photo :goodvibes

Good morning everyone,
I have posted several trip reports at the bottom of post three on the first page.
Also, if you are interested in reading more about peoples' reactions to the Alaska excursions in previous years, there are two links to reviews by Dissers on that too -- go to the top of post three under Alaska Excursions.

Maybe some of this will help with our planning. Happy reading!:surfweb::surfweb:
