Alaska - 7 night attire question

Yes bummer but I think the characters wear their formal attire - where did the culture of ignoring formal night come from? I thought people enjoyed cruise formal nights
Part of the problem is that Disney doesn't really publicize it. If someone doesn't even know there's going to be a formal night, they don't pack for it.

Formal dress has never been big in the Pacific Northwest. We have a lumberjack / fisherman ethos out here. Best way to lose a sale out here is to show up to a big business meeting wearing a suit. That style rubs off on the Alaskan cruises.

Did you take your cruise and photos - and post them on the forum? Would love to see your efforts panned out.

Never mind - I found your trip report.

When airlines started charging for luggage, passengers decided to "lighten the load." The first thing to leave at home is formal wear.

Yes, this! From reading here I was prepared for Pirate night on our recent 5-night on the Magic but had the impression there wouldn’t be a formal night. Surprise! It showed up on the Navigator that day. We had brought one nice outfit for Palo dinner one night and brunch two days later, and I didn’t want to take the chance of dropping food on it in the MDR in between, so we were among the guests wearing cruise casual on formal night. Bummer.
