Alamo skip the counter question

I've checked in and provided my credit card number to skip the counter at Alamo - it said we need to bring the same card when picking up the car, but since checking in, I've lost and cancelled that particular card - will they let us present a different credit card at pick up if the name on the card matches the name on the reservation?

That sounds tricky to me. We routinely rent with Alamo and skip the counter at pick up. They always have run a credit card pre-authorization early on the day of our scheduled pick up. I have no idea what would happen if the pre-auth failed because the card number was no longer valid, but I would try to change this information in my Alamo profile in advance.

Not to skip the counter. The authorization is going to fail and you will have to at the very least wait in line to check in and show the new card. They may cancel the reservation alltogether once the card gets declined as closed. I would call them and have them change the card on file.
