Alamo Shuttle Question

Hello,
We are planning on spending two days at Universal during our Disney vacation. We will be staying at POR for the length of our 10 day trip. We'll be going to IOA on a Sunday and USO on a Wensday. I've been researching my transporation options as we will not have a car while at Disney. There will be three of us traveling and it looks like renting a car for 2 seperate days will be roughly the same price (with parking included) as taking a mears shuttle roundtrip. Trying to decide which is better option if we plan on being at the parks from open to close. Hoping someone could answer the following:
1. How early does Alamo on-site open?
2. How early/late does the Alamo shuttle service run?
3. If price is same which option do you recomend, Rental Car or Mears Shuttle?
4. How much time should we give ourselves with Mears to ensure we are at park before it opens?

1. Car Care Center hours are M-F...6am-8pm, Sat-Sun...6am-6pm

3. Well, don't forget you have to top off the gas tank, pay for parking at US/IoA each day. Then, you have to hike from the parking areas to the park entrance. The Mears shuttle drops you at the bottom of the escalator that goes to the entrance area.

4. I have booked Mears for a 7:30ish pickup. That got me to US/IoA by 8:15...needed to get to Royal Pacific Resort to checkin and then over to park by 9ish.

It may be 6 of one, half dozen of another. If you only need the car for those two trips, it may be cheaper to just pay the shuttle price. Have you checked out this offer......

It gets you two days, at two parks, plus Mears transportation both days. I've used it in the past and it worked very well. Check it out.

If you can afford it in the budget, consider staying onsite at Universal for 1 night to get 2 days back-to-back Front of the Line privileges.

If you stick to the Sun and Wed plan -- you could also price it as a 5 day rental and see what deals you can get for that via Costco or BJ's (coupons)

I have actually done that before. I kept my BWV studio, but shared a room at Royal Pacific for a night with a friend. The only issue is that the Mears shuttle doesn't allow luggage. So, if you can get away with just a backpack for your overnight stuff, it's a great thing to do.
If you do that, but rent a car, you need to add in a night's parking...around $15.
