I was able to book a midsize through Alamo today for 10 days for $148.01. There were also great rates on full-size ($168.43) and compact ($137.13). I also have a midsize SUV booked for $188.XX.

My question is what cars have you been seeing in the mid-size range at Alamo and would you downgrade to a midsize from a midsize SUV for $40.

There is only 3 of us - me and DD will be taking ME for the convenience of luggage delivery and DH will pick up the rental - and then we'll check our luggage in and get our boarding passes at the resort - so no luggage worries. I don't know that we will use it a whole lot - but we have been using a rental more on past trips with DD. We were going to skip the rental entirely but now that prices are more reasonable - well I just hate being without transportation in case of an emergency, etc. Also - we might see about switching up some ADR's now that it will be easier to get to dining at resorts.

what month are you going that you're finding these rates?? we booked a full size car with Alamo for December and the cheapest rate i can find with codes and coupons is $236 for a week!! i keep checking every day to see if the rates come down at all but so far no luck!

Oops!! Just a minor little detail :rotfl: We are going 9/14-9/23. Up until recently we could not get anything under $200 for any car. Even when we booked the midsize SUV - it was cheaper than the smaller car classes.

Did you use a discount code?

We got a compact (Chevy cobalt or similar) for 9 days at $136 in September. I used the sam's club discount and a coupon alamo sent to my email for $20 off a weekly rental. I can't get my actual code info from this computer at work but I will post it later if anyone is interested.

I used the Walmart ID 430710 (I think) and a coupon for $20 off from Mousesavers. This ID is the one that gives you a free additional driver too.

Thanks for the heads up on Alamo prices. I just booked my 11/24-11/30/07 a trip and saved $17 off of my existing National ressie, for a total of $170. Any penny saved is great for me! If I do end up using this ressie from Alamo, I will be trying the self-service kiosk. Anyone have any problems using it with coupons?
