Like many of us here, I have used National almost exclusively, both at MCO and any other trips, since learning about National, EA, and good rates here on the DIS back in '99. I think I must have 20 or more rentals, business and leisure, over the past 7 or 8 years.

But, as many have stated here, the National rates, for whatever reason, have gone sky high (maybe they are trying to make up for good rates in the past, LOL), and I have looked at Alamo. Rates are 1/2 to 1/3 that of National.

However, one of the very best benefits of National, IMO, is the EA, hard to top that. I did join the Quick Silver and have read here about the kiosk in the garage, making it almost as good as EA. I have read people are still using the kiosk. I did, however, always covering my bases, just call the Quick Silver number, 800 882-5266. I asked about the kiosk. The lady at QS said there are no longer any kiosks anywhere, only counter. I asked what benefits QS gives me then, she said a 30% discount. I told her rates are lower with other code numbers and are there any other benefits. She said, no. :confused3

So, I really do not care about 'other' benefits, but can anyone here attest to recently having used the kiosk in the garage area (sounds like a pagan idol, LOL) with an Alamo rental, and, was it painless? :woohoo: :moped:

I'd like to know this as well since I could save $70 to be able to skip the line. If not, I would have to make a different reservation so I could do the online checkin

Play around with your rental dates too. I can get a 5 day rental (minivan) in August for $132.61 with fees. Renting at the Car Care Center and returning to Orlando airport. That's with an online $25 coupon and rental sdaily special rates. It may be worth your while to arrange transportation to WDW and get your car at the Dolphin or the Car Care Center (less lines and still good price).

I can get a Friday to Friday rental fro $264.22 but would have to deal with lines at the airport. I will take a van (Sunray $60 one way) to the hotel (we are traveling with another family and splitting this cost) and rent at the Car Care Center for much less money.

I just used alamo at MCO last week and signed up for QS. I stood in line, because I had not activated my QS agreement and the rental I had did not have my QS number on it (I registered the night before my flight). While in line, the rep told me that the next time I use Alamo, I didn't have to stand in line. He said I could go right to the garage and drive to the exit kiosk and give them my information. (Both National and Alamo use the same exit kiosks.)

DH got his return email indicating he had joined QS. There was no membership number, just the corp ID #. When do you get your membership #?

I am really starting to miss National (but not enough to cough up an extra $75 for the week!)

I understand from others that MCO does have a parking Garage/2nd Floor kiosk.
But....if you don't use coupons (just codes)and you check-in online (up to 30 days before your pick up) ,then you simply walk straight to your choice of vehicle (only certain classes I believe)and drive out checking with the gate attendant.

is QS open to everyone ?

or do you have to have a business ( since they are giving you a Corp id #?

I think it is open to anyone, lawgs.

Maybe I have the idea of a kiosk wrong in my mind. I am thinking it is some sort of automated thing, sort of like an ATM machine. Sounds though like it really may just be another counter in a small room in the garage for Quick Silver people. Is that correct?

Using National we always just walked up to the intermediate aisle, jumped in the car & showed id @ toll booth before you left the 2nd level of garage. We never had a problem using a coupon, just handed it in there.

For June we switched to Alamo QS also using a coupon. We had expected to follow the same process as National's.

I was not informed that we MUST check-in online using QS...since we have a coupon, it would reject anyway.

Has anyone used QS w/coupon & gone straight to the toll booth?

I noticed that their is a small booth off of the elevator area w/an agent inside (can't remember if it's Alamo/National or both...is this where Alamo QS checks in?

If we have to wait in the over-long Alamo MCO terminal line - I'll cancel the res. & take ME.

I also use National emerald usually, but now have reservations with Alamo using ***********. I have to call them, too, because I do already have a *********** card. But, I cannot figure out how to access my "account" info on their website. I wanted to see if I still had a vaild credit card linked to this card. I applied for card years ago, and never used it.

Hi all,
Last October we rented with QS, and did have a coupon (it was an internet Alamo coupon) - No problem whatsoever in using the coupon.

As advertised with QS, we bypassed the line & counter in the termnial and checked in at the QS booth located on the second floor of the parking garage (just follow the signs to where the Alamo vehicles are located).

After a short 5 mins. or so insided the QS booth, we picked out our vehcile and loaded up. Another quick stop at the exit booth, and we were on our way.

Again, this was our experience last October, and hopefully things regarding QS haven't changed since, as it was a very smooth process.

Alamo's rates seem to be hard to beat lately. We've got an Equinox reserved from a Thurs. to Sun. in June for a total of $82, using an Entertainment Book coupon.

-Mark

Thanks - reassuring to hear we won't have to deal w/MCO desk for Alamo.

If you need to update your QS agreement (i.e. credit card info) you need to call QS @ 800-882-5266 & they'll send you an email w/new agreement form to fill out & return.

Regular Booking = Line Up in Main Terminal Counter

QS = Perhaps short Line Up at Parking Garage 2nd Floor Booth

Online Check-in = No counter,no booth .Show document and CC as you leave with chosen vehicle

Thanks, Mark. I guess what I was thinking of a kiosk (I saw them some years back) were walkup computer terminals to check in. You say it like a little office/hut, out in the garage.

Another thought here.........

Any time I have used EA at MCO, (which is quite a few times) I have always walked out of the terminal, across the roadway, into the garage (1st floor) picked out a car and left. It is mentioned here this kiosk is on the second floor in the garage. I never even paid attention to more than the ground floor. How do you get to the second floor?

When you walk across the street to the garage, you can take the escalator or the elevator. I find it much easier to take the elevator because we are always lugging 3 or 4 suitcases. But it always takes forever. The escalator is right at the garage entrance, you can't miss it.

Hi Dan,
The booth / hut is just a small, glassed-in type thing with a counter inside. Not much room, but then again, they're not expecting any lines are they?:scratchin
