Mousesavers says if I check in on line I can bypass the counter. Has anyone tried this? How well does this work? Do you print all needed paperwork at home at checkin? Do you get to pick the car you want in the lot?

I want my spouse to be able to drive the car. If I'm an Insider I understand this is free. Do I have to provide the spouse drivers license? How do I do this? Does it matter if I check in on line? Do I have to check in at the counter to have free a free spouse driver? The Alamo website seems to suggest I can add my spouse at online checkin. Is this true?

If I use the airport kiosk, do I get to pick the car I want in the lot?

I have reserved a standard vehicle. The website says this is a Ford Fusion. What other vehicles do they have on the standard aisle?

1. There's another part of that check in online/bypass the counter: if you use a coupon, you can't check-in online. You have to either use the kiosk or go to the counter. Doesn't matter what the coupon is. I'm planning to use the kiosk.

2. You do have to provide the spouse driver's license. After you choose your car, pull up to exit booth and hand them the rental agreement (printed from either online check in or the kiosk) and the driver's licenses of those driving. You can add your spouse during online check in, but it will try to charge you. Easier just to do it at the booth, reminding the agent you're an Insider member so the spouse is free.

3. You always get to pick your car at MCO (Orlando airpot). Online, kiosk, counter. Doesn't matter. You choose the car. Other rental places are not the same (i.e. Disney Car Care Center assigns you a car). So it depends where you are renting.

4. There is no standard aisle at MCO, so if that's where you're renting, you'll pick from the Full Size aisle. From what I understand, there's a lot of Impalas, Accuras, etc. (Impalas have the largest trunk space of any car, so if you're wanting trunk space, pick an Impala.)

Where will I find a Kiosk?

A word of caution. Unless you booked using the Insiders contract ID code, adding the free driver may be a pain. When you pull up your reservation online does it say (1) Additional Driver somewhere? If so, use SaveTime ahead of time and input your and the additional drivers information ahead of your departure from home. You can then checkin at the kiosk and go the garage to pick out your car from the full size isle. Then proceed to the gate and show both drivers licenses.

If your reservation does not indicate (1) Additional Driver, you will need to checkin at the counter as the kiosk and/or SaveTime will try to charge the $9.99 per day for the extra driver. Getting the desk clerk to add the extra driver even when showing your Insiders card isn't always easy. They can and will do it but may go in to some spiel about who you should have used the insiders contract ID to get that benefit.

The kiosk for Alamo at MCO is right next to the ropes to go to the counter, kind of hidden next to a pillar.

I second inputting the info for the second driver in online, then you check in at the kiosk, and show both ID's at the exit gate, super fast !

If you are not using a coupon, you can checkin online. You can add your spouse at the exit booth, however, he/she needs to be with you, have a valid license and a credit card in his/her name.
You get to select the car you want regardless of how you check in.
There is no Standard row at MCO, you will select from the full size row. I have posted the types/makes of cars in the full size row in other posts.
One more thing about additional drivers, they must be present regardless of how you added them.
