Alamo problem

Alamo must still be having problems with website. I continually get error message. Made a reservation with another company but hopefully this will resolve.
 
I cannot find a tab (or anything) anywhere on the Costco website where you can cancel a car reservation.

Can you please point it out?

At the very top of the website when logged in is a link "My Travel Account". Click that and it will list all travel reservations that you have. If you have only made car rental reservations, they will all show. Just click on the Order Number and then there is a cancel option at the bottom of that page. Very easy.

What error message are you receiving. You often can't cancel a reservation on Alamo.com that was made through a different company. You have to cancel with that company so they also are aware that the reservation was cancelled.

I get a message in red at the top of the page every time I look up a Costco car rental on Alamo.com. That doesn't mean there is something wrong. It just indicates that I can't cancel or modify the reservation on Alamo.com. Makes sense since I have to do that on Costco.com.
 

I sent Alamo an email on Friday night about the problem but have not received a reply yet.

This is the message:

"We're sorry for the inconvenience, but we are experiencing technical issues with this reservation attempt. Please call 1 (877) 222-9075."

I just called to cancel a reservation. Explained what was happening and they said "oh, that's the first we've heard of it". LOL I told them to check disboards.

Given that I was unable to cancel a reservation made directly through them for weeks, and finally had to call a week ago, and I told them why I called, they're just telling lies at this point....
 
I got the same message 2 days ago. My price dropped so I rebooked and then tried to cancel my original ressie. I decided to call and it was very easy....all automated system. I cancelled the old ressie in under 2 minutes.

Which number did you call to get the automated system in order to cancel? 1-877-222-9075 (the number you get when trying to cancel on-line), or 1-888-233-8749 (the customer service #).
 
I got the same problem!! and no i DID NOT book with the 3rd party, but directly through alamo.com...I called to cancel one ressie, no problem but wanted to do a check in online and they didn't seem to understand. Come to find out, when you call the 800 number, you get a rep from INDIA!! I was very annoyed!! They keep telling me that i can go right to parking lot and bypass the counter but i told not unless i checked in online and give my license info and all...He didn't seem to understand!! :headache:

Why does Companies hired foreigners and not understand their job???? So hopefully the website will be fixed soon!! Otherwise i am calling Alamo right in MCO office and deal with them!!! :rolleyes:

If you are an Alamo Insider he was correct - you can go straight to the parking garage without checking in online. And if you aren't, I'm sure that's where his confusion came from - he just assumed you were. Their main call center has been in India for years.
 
No, you cannot check-in on-line either.

Does anything happen if you have more than one reservation, but do not cancel one before you arrive?
 
Yes, I always have been given the impression that the call center does not have a clue as to what we are talking about. I have called several times and they don't seem to grasp the online check in either. I was trying to tell them about the error message and that online check in would not work. They kept telling me just to cancel and rebook. Well, okay, but can I rebook at my rate of $123.57 for 9/13-9/21?

They did tell me that I was not eligible for online check in and would have to go to the counter, but it is good to know that with my Alamo Insiders that I can go directly to the garage. Trying to keep travel day as stressfree as possible because DH's nerves are ALWAYS gone by the time we land and it quickly puts a damper on the day.

What makes you not eligible for online check-in?
 
With Alamo you still have to "check-in" somewhere, either online, at the kiosk or at the counter before proceeding to the garage. Once checked in you proceed to the garage and pick a car from the aisle/size class that you booked (keys inside) then proceed to the exit with your paperwork from check-in.

Now national is my favorite if you are a member just walk out to the garage and pick your vehicle. Checkin/checkout is processed at the gate as you leave the lot.
 
Called today and they still have no clue about the error on their website. It's frustrating because I can't do online check-in to completely bypass the counter and kiosks. I'm leaving this weekend and I doubt this issue will be fixed. I was told I can't do online check-in because I used a "paper coupon" which needs to be presented when I pick up the car. I said regardless of coupon, can you check in for me if I provided the info, he said no.

That is incorrect. You must check in either counter/kiosk/online or otherwise you will do the reverse back up in shame.

I'm not sure why Alamo hasn't streamlined its process like National, once you make a reservation with your member id in, you just go straight to the cars and the booth does the rest.
