Booked yesterday a full size from 9/22 - 9/29 at $154 (used the walmart code). Today it's down to $150! It was $164 last week!! Wonder how low it will go :) :) :) :)

Thanks for the heads up! I just saved $7.86 for my rental for 9/22-9/30/07. Now I'm paying just $165.60 for a fullsize car.

I wish I could use the $20 coupon Alamo offers online, but it seems its been blacked out for my dates.

Wow. I have $122.xx on the EA through National - but, now I have $109.xx for a full-size though Alamo (using the Amex code and one class upgrade)

Decisions, decisions .... :scratchin

If you are flying into Tampa the savings are even better. I just got a midsized car for 10 days for $112.78 Including Tax. (using Walmart Code above and $20 coupon on the website)

I have booked several times using the costco discount for Alamo and they always seem to have the lowest rates. Go to www.costco.com and then car rentals. They have different options with Budget and Avis as well.
You can get a free upgrade from Midsize to Fullsize with coupon and free additional drive (usually $8.00/day). Total is $122.10US including taxes.

Im shocked you all are getting a discount with a coupon. I have tried every code possible and cannot get it to work. I even called CS and they said that all coupons have been maxed out online at that location. She said if people start cancelling their requests they can reopen the coupons.:confused3

Thanks for the Costco tip!! I got the best rate there!! It's like $50 cheaper than anything else I've been able to find!!:thumbsup2

Thank you for posting, especially about the free upgrade coupon working. I could not get any of my normal coupons to work. With the free upgrade from mid-size to standard, I have a three day rental for a total of $48 for 9/27-9/30. Saved me $23!!!
My rental states a standard is a 2 or 4 door. If I recall the Alamo rental site at MCO, there is no standard aisle and they send you to the full size aisle. Can anyone confirm? (I was just there last week. One would think I would remember!)

I was unable to get any of my coupons to work at either national or Alamo. I love National but they are high for the time period I am going.

At Alamo at MCO do you get to choose your own car from the isle or do the asign you a car at the counter??

I got a mid size for 8 days in Sept for $116 total with tax !!!

I am usually a National Emerald isle person, but this deal can't be beat. National wants a extra $30 for the same thing.

How do you get these new rates? Do you have to cancel your reservation and rebook it, or can you change the codes/coupons that you have applied?

I just made a reservation today and got a good deal, but I will keep my eyes out for other things if I know I can easily apply other codes.

TIA
Vickie

I just start a brand new itineray. That seems to work better than modifying my existing reservations.

Compact for 7 days (9/14-9/21) with American Express code and on-line check-in (you can do this if you don't have a coupon), which means you bypass the rental counter, pick out a car in your car class, and hand your cc and license to the attendant at the garage exit....

all for $100.36!! $20 less than the ressie I made on Sunday and $80 less than my original National ressie (which I thought for sure I would get stuck with!)

Do you have to have a Costco membership?
I used the link and got a better price than I did through SWA, but I don't have a Costco membership. Do they really ask for it when you rent?
