Alamo Prepay Question?

Thanks to earlier info that I read on the boards, I was able to reserve a car with Alamo using the Wal-Mart code and the Discount Coupon code on Alamo's web site. However, someone also mentioned being able to get an additional discount for prepaying. However, they said that it had to be within a 30 day period before the rental. Does anyone know how to do this with an existing reservation, or can you only do this when you make a reservation within the 30 day window? Didn't see anything on the web site that even mentioned being able to prepay. Any help will greatly be appreciated. Thanks. :cool1:

I don't think you can do that. The PREPAY code goes in the same box where you originally entered the Walmart (six-digit) code.

I did the prepay and my reservation is in August. Not sure if I should have prepayed that early because they charge a cancellation fee (only $5.00) but the rate was good and it is done.

When you go to their website, on the middle right is a picture of an SUV and it says PREPAY AND SAVE.

Click on that and it brings you to a page with the details. On the right of that page, it says RESERVATIONS, you click that and then you are brought to the reservation window. There you can enter your codes and coupons on that reservation.

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for the info. I did check it out, and yes it doesn't let you use the Wal-Mart code and prepay, but still will let you use the online coupon code. Since prepay is 15% off and the Wal-Mart code is 10% it comes out cheaper to prepay, but I am going to wait to cancel my current reservation, hoping that prices might go down in the mean time, since we are only talking about a $6.00 difference, and if my son decides he can't go with us becuz of work, I will also downsize from a full size to an intermidiate. Thanks again.

I did the Prepay as well and I got a very good price on an SUV. $160 for 9 days, April 29-May 7. But after doing that I noticed the rules on the Online Check-in that I can't do the online check-in because I have an Midsize SUV! :sad2: I was really looking forward to that feature. I usually use National and have gotten used to just going to the car. I used Alamo this time for the prices. I guess I'll just have to stand in line. I wanted to make anyone else aware of this fact too since I know alot of people have been renting the SUV's and talking about using the online Check-in too.

I have a *********** membership and have just gone to the Alamo desk in the garage. Have the lines there been really long too?

I never noticed a desk in the garage, just the checkout booth where you drive to after you pick out your car. Sometimes it takes a little while, sometimes not. Depends on the time of day. I've never waited more than 10 mins at the booths in the garage when I'm leaving. The one time I had to go to the Alamo desk inside, I waited about 45mins before I even got to go out and get my car.

Was there any oher codes you used? That seems like a great rate for an SUV. I ave been trying to book a convertable for 8 days and the rates are well over 300.00

I made the reservation through the pre-pay page with a BJ's coupon for $20 off. I did not put anything in for the rate/product code because that's were the prepay code fills in on the last screen. I just checked the rates for the same trip and it came out to $168 for April 29, p/u 2pm return May 7, d/o at 4pm. But, remember, the rules for on-line say midsize SUV (which is what I have) have to go to the counter for check in. My credit card was charged that second when I confirmed on line for the car. Just to keep that in mind when you book. :thumbsup2

I'd LOVE a way around that if anyone knows?
Thanks! Good luck in booking a great rate!
