I reserved an Equinox early in May for 4 days at the end of July before I booked flights. The cost was $103.43 total. I have now booked flights and our arrival time into MCO is 10 hours later than I put on the reservation (1:30 pm versus 11:30 pm). I tried to modify the reservation, but the cost would now be $247.50. Should I call to change the time - will they still honor the rate I have?

Thanks in advance for the advice. :sunny:

I would try duplicating the reservation you already made, by making a new one. See how that shakes out. If you like it then keep it and cancel the first one. I was able to modify my Alamo reservation a bit before they changed the cost on me, but not by too much.

FWIR, Alamo has been pretty consistent about charging customers whatever their current rate is at the time of the customer's last change to the reservation. I think they must know that they're the lowest price available, and that customers are choosing them mainly for that reason (since it's clearly not for their customer service! :)), so they only need to charge a little less than the currently-available alternatives.

I can only speak from my own experience, but I had terrific customer service from Alamo on May 19. It might be that I rented from the Dolphin rather than MCO and returned the car to Tampa Intnl. but it was truly a great experience. No hard sell, no addtl charges, even when I thought there would be...just a nice, easy rental. And after trying the exact same info on both Nationals EA, and Alamo, I found that Alamo was still $75 cheaper for that 3 day rental.

Just in case this helps anyone else in a similar situation...I did try to modify my existing reservation and the price was $140 more...creating a new reservation was an even higher price. I finally called reservations this morning and asked them to change my arrival time, which she easily did. She did confirm my total would stay the same and I have her name, so I hope I don't run into any problems when we get there! :sunny:

Like you said..if you try to modify the reservation (at least online) the rate goes up. Before you cancel your current reservation...check the rate on a new one because Alamos rates have skyrocketed over the last few days..they have more than doubled in some cases. Maybe you call Alamo and see if they'll keep your rate and just change the time?
