Has anybody made a new reservation with Alamo and noticed that it does not include and additional driver in the cost. I have always had an additional driver included in my cost. Not a fan of the new website, just want to say!!!

It has always depended on what codes you use to get your rental, as far as I know.

It is one of the reasons it pays to be a Costco member, we get a free additional driver with Alamo.

We just returned, having rented from Alamo. I'll reiterate that it depends on what code you use. If you use ALAMO'S code, you'll get a free additional driver.

I had initially used a different code, but when I changed it to Alamao's, the 2nd driver was free. (I'll add that there was no difference in price between the two that I was using.)

Using a coupon in addition to that should have no effect. I was still able to use the coupon I had, and still get the free 2nd driver.

If you are an Insider, it's automatic for some people to be added. What relationship was your additional driver?

Members will not incur an additional fee if the rental vehicle is driven by an "Additional Authorized Driver" as defined in the rental agreement

The OP is referring to the fact that the new Alamo website no longer shows the free additional driver during the booking or confirmation process.

My guess is that the additional driver benefit should still apply. In Alamo's back end system the additional driver benefit is attached to the contract ID. It still should be passed through with your reservation even though the new web interface/confirmation does not show it.

Enterprise may be phasing out this benefit. They would need to update the Insiders agreement though, and I have not received anything. The problem with removing it from contract ID's is it would affect previous reservations.

On the other hand, it may just be an oversight on the part of the web development team.

who cares just have the other driver drive anyway. It's all a scam to get more money.

That's what we've always done. Luckily we haven't gotten in an accident; that's when there could be a problem.

Best hope you don't get into an accident....the other driver's fault or your own. I'm pretty sure the car rental company will negate the contract if there is someone driving the car that isn't listed.
There are companies that allow for addtl drivers. I tend to use only those companies. But, they do have to be listed on the contract.

Would you mind telling me what codes you used? I need to book a car and
can't find a code that works. Thanks

I agree with the comments about the new Alamo website - it's terrible. I sent them an email saying as much. Maybe if enough of us give feedback they'll change it back!
