Just curious what type of Mid-Size SUV have you seen at Alamo? Has it happened to anyone that they didnt have any Mid-Size did they upgrade you to a full size? :car:

Happen to us last month. We had a Equinox reserved, there were none left, they told us to take one of the larger SUVs.

Would a mid-size SUV be big enough for 4 adults and their luggage...probably 1 big suitcase + each?

I rented a mid size SUV for our ski trip this year. It took 2 adults, 11 and 13 year old, 2 ski bags, a boot bag, and all our luggage back and forth from the airport with minor crowding. If it can fit all that, I'm sure it can fit 4 adults and warm weather luggage. You might be a little crowded on the trip to and from the airport, but everything will fit. We rented an Equinox. It was much bigger on the inside then it appeared on the outside.

Have fun!

Ditto here for the Equinox - we had 4 adults, 2 large bags and 2 smaller ones and there was room. This was in February. I had reserved the mid-size SUV, with National, there were none left and the garage attendant directed us to the Alamo section of the garage to pick one up there. Worked out just fine.

We have had a Saturn Vue twice as an Alamo midsize SUV. I was also worried about whether we could fit 3 adults + toddler in a car seat + luggage + stroller. No problem. We've got another one booked for 4 adults in Dec. and am watching for a good rate for 4 adults in Oct. We also had different midsize SUV (looked a lot like an Equinox but can't remember what it was) earlier this month and it had lots of room too.

I am considering buying an Equinox so wouldnt mind having that, I would be getting LT trim so that would be even nicer. I would love to get upgraded too though. Do you have your choice oh what you get or do you have to take an SUV. One time with Alamo i was supposed to have a convertible and they had none so they gave me whatever i wanted i chose the 300C

You take whichever car you want from within the class you booked. There are signs in each mile to identify the class of car. If none are available in the class you reserved, then I guess it's whatever you can negotiate.

We just returned and had a mid-size SUV with Alamo. We picked a Torrent. it was nice. Leather seats and sunroof. Pretty new and roomy. My daugther arrived a week after us and picked out a Renedouz. Her car was big enough for 2 adults, 12 year old and baby in car seat. 5 suitcases and stroller.

We had a mid-size SUV rented for last week but there were none left when we got to the airport (surprise, surprise considering the great rates everyone was getting!!). If there were any full-size SUV's I didn't see them. They told us we could take either a minivan or a full-size car so we took the full-size car. Considering we only paid $115 for the week we were happy with the car and it was very comfortable.

In December, the person at the Alamo desk who processed our paperwork said that we could take either a mid or full size because the MCO location (while on-line ressies are seperate prices) doesn't differentiate between the two sizes. Shhhh!!!! Dis only secret....If you look at the signs in the garage there's only an area that says SUV's so that would make sense.

We took a full size even though there were some mid-size there. No-one ever questioned us otherwise and we were charged the mid-size rate I had booked.

We're going to do the same thing again this May trip so I'll report back in three weeks after we come home.

That explains why when my daughter picked up a Rendevous from the mid-size SUV aisle there were also Uplanders parked there too. Very interesting.

We had an Equinox reserved for our trip in January. There were none available when we went to choose the vehicle, so we took a Trailblazer instead. Either one would have worked for us. The Trailblazer was very nice.

Anyone else experiance this? Taking a full size SUV when there really was Mid Size there? I would love to have the ability to transport 7 people with a third seat.

Derek

The trailblazer we took only had two rows.... Didn't see any with a third row option that time.

We were there in February. We had a mid-size SUV reserved. We went to the aisle and picked a wonderful Buick Ranier. Leather, the works. You just take whatever you want from the SUV aisle. On that aisle they do not separate the mid-size from the full size. Nice!

Does this mean at no extra cost that I can pick up a big SUV if I have a small SUV booked?

Had this same experience also!! The aisle, when I was there, had no seperation between Full Size, 7 passenger, and midsize Suv's (they were all on the same aisle). I, strangly enough, also scored a Buick Ranier, even though I had a midsize reserved. No word out of anyones mouth, and I was only charged for the midsize I had reserved. As far as 7 passengers, I did see a few GMC Envoy XL (which has the 3rd row) in the mix of SUV's....
