Alamo Insiders Program Drops Master Rental Agreement

that required a credit card be kept on file in order to rent via insiders program effective 5/22/11:confused3

i'm not sure it's necessarily a good thing for the company, likely will encourage casual travelers to make multi-bookings

I just got my Alamo Insider e-mail about this and have been researching what exactly it means. Does this mean I will now have to do online check-in every time in order to go straight out to the garage booth to pick out my car? And effective May 22nd - that's fast.

beat me;)i was hoping some legal beagle would read thru the jargon & translate for the rest of us

I was wondering if this meant they would delete all our credit cards on record.. so they didn't store them.

I agree that is what it means, but how does that affect the way you check in if you always had it on file, i.e. you now must do online check-in every time to avoid front counter?

it's been awhile since i've rented from alamo @ MCO but isn't the kiosk still in the garage?

Hmm - I don't know. :confused3 For the last several years, as a QS Member now Alamo Insider, I either stopped at the garage booth or was told to just go pick out car and check out at the exit booth for the garage. As long as on-line check-in won't affect any coupon usage such as the current Alamo Insider $40. coupon, I guess it's really not that big of a deal.

I'm an insider and am renting a car from the MCO Alamo on the 27th. I am hoping to use the kiosk and choose our own car. I will let you know how I it goes!

We were there recently and I don't recall seeing any kiosks in the garage. There are a few kiosks in the terminal in front of the Alamo desk. There is a booth as you enter the Alamo area of the garage. We used the kiosk in the terminal but then had an issue and since the line at the desk in the terminal was long we opted to sort it out at the booth in the garage. They were very helpful (and the line was much shorter!).

And I too am wondering what that change in the terms and conditions really means.

I just sent an e-mail to Alamo expressing my dissatisfaction that while I understand they can change the terms of their 'membership', more notice would have been nice. I currently have a great rate with them and rates for my time just went through the roof . . . can't help but wonder if that isn't on purpose. I am hoping, if they respond, they will clarify how this change will effect checking in and picking out vehicle. :confused3 Can you tell I hate dealing with terminal lines???
