Alamo Insiders Free Add'l Driver?

On Mousesavers, it says that if you rent as an Alamo Insider, then you get a free additional driver if it is a spouse with your same address on their drivers license.

We are leaving in a couple of days, and I just tried to add the additional driver while completing the SaveTime part of the rental. It was going to charge me the $9.99/day for the add'l driver.

Does anyone know if this is still an Insiders perk? And if so, does it have to be done at the counter or can you bypass it somehow?

Still a perk.

I've never been able to make it work online. I always use kiosk at MCO, then add spouse at check out booth after I pick up the car.

You could go to the desk too, instead of kiosk (which you may need to do now that it is on your e-reservation).

Thanks for the quick response - I really appreciate it! I didn't end up completing the online check in process since I wasn't expecting to be charged for the extra driver, so I think I may be able to do it like you have in the past.

Watch they don't try to charge you for the free driver. We were there last Thurs and the "very unhappy" (I'm being nice) rep tried to charge us an add'l $90. She removed the charge since I refused to sign the agreement. Her bad day started with us when she couldn't get our charge authorization to go thru. I gave her 2nd card and no problem. On way from airport I called my cc co and they told me her "first" authorization went thru! Rep told me the machine declined it. So I had 2 holds on the rental. Not a problem for me but could pose a problem if someone was tight on their credit limit. We return car tomorrow so we'll see how that goes.
