We are a family of four - 2 adults and 2 small children with booster seats (both kids weight less than 40 pounds). We will have a citi mini double stroller and 3 suitcases (58 linear inches each). No carry ons. I currently have a reservation with Alamo for a mid-size and a full size. Full size is $100 more than the mid-size for 10 days. What size vehicle should we rent? What cars are usually available to rent in these catagories? I don't think I need a minivan, but are minivans frequently offered in the full size aisle? I am petite so I can fit in the back seat with the kids. Any advice greatly appreciated! Thank you so much in advance!

My DH just arrived at MCO late last night and there were very limited cars available in the midsize lane. Toyota Corolla, Mazda (not sure which model) and Chevy HHR. The attendant saw him looking over the cars and told him to take a Chrysler Sebring that is not usually that aisle. I have been keeping track here on the transportation board of what people have been getting and they are most likely what the rest of us would consider compact cars....Honda Civic, the Chevy HHR, Corolla etc. When are you going? The rates usually drop a couple of weeks prior to your trip. Also many times Alamo offers a double upgrade coupon that would take you from the midsize to a full size or a compact to a standard(which at MCO is the full size aisle). Although you could probably fit all of your gear into the cars mentioned above that ride from the airport would be really tight. Good Luck to you....this part of our trip is always fun for me.....how low can you go on that car rental!!!

I know if you can get a Ford Fusion, you will have plenty of room for you all. I think that is considered a standard size car with Alamo.

We rented a Full Size from Alamo at MCO on February 16th. Our flight landed around 10am, and we were in the garage by 10:30 (no checked bags). There were true Full Size cars (Chevy Malibu, etc), but there were also 7 or 8 mini vans, along with some GIANT cars (Grand Marquis, and one Town Car???)

I found the double upgrade coupon. I have a better deal on a full size. Arrival March 27th for 10 day rental. Used Alamo Insiders and $40 coupon code AD4027JDO. Mid-Size $191 Full Size $292 Includes taxes, fees, etc. Booked reservation a month ago.
I will keep checking, but given the time of year (spring break), I think these rates are probably keepers, especially the mid-size for $191 for 10 days.

The other adult can sit in the back seat. Stack as much luggage as you need to on the front passenger seat.

Any car that seats 5 will work. It's only 30 minute drive from MCO to the WDW area. My answer would be different if you were going to be driving for a couple of hours.

I did a swap out at Orlando back on Feb 20th.
Had a fullsize Impala and then got a flat tire so we returned it.
This was at about 11:15pm.

The only "cars" that were left for Full size were Mini vans...about 6 of them.

The last time couple of times I rented midsize I have received the Chevy HHR.
Worked well for 3 adults with 3 fullsize pieces of luggage and carry ons.

At 10 AM .This past December I was given a Honda Civic for a Full Size car ????
It was a joke !! I would have complained however I had a great rate .
Bottom line I won't trust them in the future!
