Hello- We are driving in in a rental car from Alamo. Staying at DLH. Planning on checking in, dropping our bags in our room, returning the car, walking from Alamo in DTD to the Disneyland Front Gate and going to the Park, not back to our room. On MapQuest the walking distance is 0.04 mi- 8 min walk. Anyone done this? Is Alamo ACTUALLY in DTD? Do we have to cross any major intersections or walk anywhere sketchy, or is it as easy as it looks on MapQest?

Alamo is at the far end of DtD. Basically, exit your tower heading to the security tents. When you get to the security tents, turn right instead of going through security. Alamo is like the 2nd storefront. Then, go back to security, through security, and follow DtD right to the gates. Seriously easy-peasy! :)

Alamo office is right behind Earl of Sandwich...essential right in DTD at the end by the DLH.

WhooooHooooo!!!! Thanks for helping to pull all the pieces together for a newbie to the area. This makes me happy!

I would actually go directly to the alamo location and drop off, then haul bags to the front desk (so closeby), drop bags in room if available (not sure what time you're getting in) or Bell Services if not, and then head to the parks through DTD. And I say that b/c I feel like the drive from the front of DLH is weird and roundabout to get over to the Alamo location there. So you might as well get rid of the car without driving in circles.

Good to know. We will be coming off a (potentially) long drive from Phoenix and I'm worried about the jolliness of my crew as we drag large bags and possible multiple accoutrements (we are on a 14 day road trip ending in DL) to the DLH from Alamo. It does sound easier, though. They may just have to suck it up! Its a definite Griswold trip. Ha!!!

I also think they pick up/drop off at the Disney resort Hotels if you are staying there. I would also look into this.

It’s not that heinously long of a drive from Phoenix. My son and I did it on our own and I don’t remember it being too taxing from Phoenix.

I wish I could take a picture of my mind’s eye. If you go to the google satellite view of downtown Disney as it hits Disneyland hotel, Alamo is *right there*. You cross a wide sidewalk-ish that is sometimes used by Disney security type golf cart vehicles but nothing more than that. And you see Disneyland hotel right there. You would enter the grounds at the sorcerers hat area and come in the “back side” of the tower with the front desk.

Now if you have a ton of groceries, and it’s not all rolling bags, then maybe take the time to do it differently.

But when you see it you’ll understand lol.

Drop off bags at front desk valet check in, then one person drive around and drop car which I believe is the Self Parking lot of the Grand Californian Hotel...then everyone meet right at the entrance to DTD which is exactly where both groups will come out of DLH and the Alamo Office.

That is what I would do of you are itching to get right to the parks.

Here is a link to an interactive DTD map so you can see how close it all is in relation to each other.

Alamo is the bottom left pin, GCH Self Park lot is right below that, DHL is just to the left of Alamo and DLH check in is the lot right above the DLH. To return car from the DLH you just have to backtrack to the GCH Self Park via Disneyland Drive which is easy peasy barring no resort traffic.

Some advice please? We are coming into LAX, shuttle to the Paradise Pier, walk through to the Alamo rental. We’ll then use the car in southern Cali before returning to drop off car at PP Alamo and stay at GCH for a few more days. Well shuttle back to LAX. This seemed to be the easiest and more economical than renting at Lax and we don’t want to drive in LA.

1. Can you walk through PP to Alamo or should we get transportation direct to Alamo?
2. Does this make sense?

Thanks for any advice, we are much more familiar with WDW.

If it has not already, the Alamo office is moving to the Lobby of Paradise Pier Hotel. Alamo cars are parked in the GCH Self Park lot right next to the PPH and across the street from GHC. It is all clustered right there. The Walk from PPH to park gates is abut 5-9 min depending on how fast you move through DTD.

I can confirm Alamo has now moved to the Paradise Pier Hotel. The office is where the arcade used to be. When we rented our car this past Saturday, this cars were parked in the PPH parking structure rather than a surface lot. It was super easy.
