Alamo counter lines

Has anyone been at the Alamo counter lines lately. I was wondering if they have been very long. We are checking in on Oct 19 which is a Friday. I got an unbeilabley low rate at Alamo. However, I am an Emarald CLub member from National. For $50.00 more I can get a car at National and by pass the counter. I was just wondering what everyone thinks. Has the Alamo counter line at Alamo been a very short wait. Or should I expect to stand in line for an hour. I am debating if the $50.00 more is worth it.

My daughter used Alamo in August and she used the checkin computer kiosk. It's located near the counter. There was no one in line (I don't think folks know about it). It took about 5 minutes and it gave her the paperwork and she walked out to the gargage with us. We went to EA and she to Alamo (she had a great price on a minivan). Check their website to learn more about the computer kiosk at MCO. I think it has a picture of a buffalo or beaver...I sort of remember the commercial like that.

Just checked and they are named Al and Mo and the kiosk is "happy trails".

You can enter your driver's license and credit card information online before you get there, print out your contract and proceed directly to the cars.

I've done this before. It's very convenient. They then just take a look at your diver's license and credit card at the booth on exit.

you can use the kiosks to bypass the regular line which is a lot faster and if there is a long line, you can skip right past that and check in yourself!!

Can you still use the kiosks if you have a paper coupon? What about checking in online? I am very worried about lines, buecause we need to get somewhere in WDW ASAP. We land at 4:30pm on a Wednesday. Thanks!!!

we've had paper coupon codes that we've entered every time in the past and never have had a problem. you just enter your name or reservation number, answer a couple of questions and print your receipt. very simple.

Does anyone know if you can use the computer check-in kiosk if you need a car seat? I couldnt use online check-in because of the car seat.

The price of renting a carseat is pretty high ($10 a day/ max $50 per rental). Have you thought of just bringing yours and checking it with the luggage. They have big plastic bags they put it in. Just a thought.

Yes you can use the kiosk when also renting a car seat. Infant seat, Booster, and GPS rental options are on one of the screens you must go through when using the kiosk. If you state on your reservation that you want a seat, then change your mind at check-in, you can de-select the seat rental option, or vice versa.

I walked up to the Alamo counter and there was a line. NOBODY was using the Kiosk so I walked up and it was so user friendly. I wad done within five minutes. Definitely use the kiosk. It will save you TONS of time!! Just make sure that you reserve your car online and enter in all of your information prior to departure (including your drivers license number and the additional driver information). If you have to type that in at the kiosk, it will take longer.

You get to pick one out of the aisle you rented from (full size, mid size, compact, etc.). Keys are in it!!

Just pick one out from the "class" that you rented. But BE SURE to look it over before you drive away. We rented a full size in May, and found the first 3 cars we looked at to be damaged--dents, scrapes, and one with no passanger side view mirror!! Had we just hopped in and driven off, we may have found ourselves blamed for the damage.
And we use the online check-in--so we can bypass even the kiosk!!

I tried to complete online check-in but wasn't eligible either. I used the AmEx code as well as an online coupon so I guess that's why I wasn't eligible~~rats!! Hopefully will be able to use the kiosk and avoid the lines at the counter.

If you're not eligible for online check in, you can still use the "Save Time" feature online before you leave home. It's basically the same thing except it doesn't ask your cc info. You are prompted to enter your address, dl#, and addl. driver info.
We did this in Sept. and used the kiosk and it was so easy. There was no line and many kiosks.
It's definitely worth the savings.
btw, we photograph any minor damage and the license plate with our digital camera (prints the date in the image) while in the garage so they can't say we did it.
