Alamo Car Rental Rookie ????

We usually give the car a once over before we pull out of the space. If we see any damage we take a quick photo. We also report anything to the gate attendant. Don't remember any forms at MCO either. The biggest issues with damage are on the back bumper where people have marked it up and chipped paint loading and removing heavy luggage. We always report that and it is noted.

We love Alamo and recently had a reservation with Budget for a pick up in Tampa and drop in West Palm Beach. We booked with Budget because originally the Alamo rate was outrageous. We have constantly monitored the rates for Alamo though and recently were shocked to get a rate that beat Budget by $80. Works out great because we prefer Alamo, SaveTime and the free additional driver we can add with Insiders.

BTW gmeh1, do you know whatever happened to the Alamo Insiders Community? I received an invite a couple years ago and joined the discussions. Even provided some feedback on changes they made to the Alamo website (I didn't like the changes). Then all of a sudden the Alamo Insiders Community was gone, no notice whatsoever.

I got the impression that the Insiders Community was based out of Missouri or some where near there. Many of the Alamo company members were from Missouri. Received an invite to join several years ago and did. Went back many time but noticed one time that I was just redirected to the Alamo site.

Makes sense as corporate HQ is in Missouri. Maybe it went away when Enterprise bought Alamo which was in 2007. I will see what I can find out.

It was around after the Enterprise acquisition. It was introduced right around the time they changed to the Insiders program from Q u i c k s i l v e r. 2010 I believe. If you do find out, I am interested to know. Thanks.

I got a great rate from Alamo through Costco for an economy car. Since we aren't really driving much or far I have no problem with a small car. Does anyone know what types of cars Alamo puts in the economy aisle? The only thing they really say is Chevy Aveo or equal.

Economy cars: Accent, Yaris, Mazda 3, Fiat 500. We often put Econ. renters into Compact cars.
