About a month ago I could have got a Mid Size SUV for about $200 for 10 days, but then DH couldn't go and I was going to use a car service to get to the port and WDW. Well now DH can go, and the prices for Alamo have gone way up.

Does anyone know if the price will drop or are there certain days to look.

I need the car May 17 - 27 dropping off at Ft. Lauderdale airport.

Any suggestions?

I missed out on a good price at Alamo too! I could have had a mid-sized SUV from May 17-23 for a little over $100 about a month ago, but for some very dumb reason I didn't reserve it right away. Then when I went back a week or so later it had gone way up. :furious: So I finally reserved a midsized car for $106. I'm still hoping to get a better rate on a minivan or SUV. I try to check every couple of days. Thanks to a tip on another thread I saved $20 today with a code from vacationoutlet.com.

I wonder if it is because those vehicles are such a "hot commodity" that they can jack the prices up. All the smaller cars seemed very reasonable then you see the $400+ pricetag on the SUV...YIKES! :scared1:

Have you tried Priceline.com? Since it is so close to your travel dates you may be able to get a GREAT rate there. A lot of people have recommended it to me to try when it is closer to our leave date...

Sorry I can't be more helpful! Best of luck!

Okay...I've been playing around with Alamo's rentals for the days you need and so far the best I've gotten is $372.61. I know, not that great...but I did notice something under their "Hot Deals" button...the Last Minute Specials are listed for 5/2 - 5/16...which means they will probably be changing it soon to the dates you are looking for. They use the code: IG in the I.D. box, and then if you print the online coupon you can use the coupon code of D24C for $25 off an SUV. Mind you they haven't switched the dates yet, but I am thinking it will have to be soon. Using this code and picking up from Orlando they show a mid-Size SUV for $169.99/week without taxes and additional days added on...

I hope you get a better deal!

Thanks so much for the help, I will keep checking back.

I booked a mini van through Alamo last month for October and got a rate of $320 everything in and today I checked the rate and it is now $580 everything in. I did make a ressie last month as the rate was low and I could always cancel if I find it lower. I find that with most rental agencies you can make a no hassle ressie when you see a good rate and cancel within a certain time period with no penalty. I have done this many times and never had a problem. Avis and Alamo don't even ask you for a CC # to make the Ressie.
