Alamo at The Dolphin

Any info about the Alamo car rental place at The Dolphin would be appreciated. We will be staying at BCV, and we were considering taking Magical Express to the resort. DH could walk over to The Dolphin and pick up the car and drive back. Does this sound like a good idea? I hear that it closes early, what time? Anything else to keep in mind? I'm worried about them overbooking the rentals, and then we're stuck away from the airport with no vehicle. At least if they are overbooked at the airport, we could walk to the next desk and maybe get a car. Do they have lots of vehicles there or is it a relatively small operation? TIA!

The Dolphin is about an 8 min walk from BCV...just head out of BC and go right, keep on the walkway, cross the bridge and you're there. While not nearly as large an operation as Alamo at MCO, it is just fine. The counter closes at 4:00 if I remember correctly. I'll be renting from there in a week. I've had extremely good service there in the past.

I think you are right in that it closes at 4 PM. I think it opens at 8 AM.

We were staying at BC in 2004 and got caught in Hurricane Frances, so no flights were leaving for at least another day. However, it was safe enough to drive, so we ended up renting a Dodge Durango from the Dolphin Alamo desk.

When you drop off, you can actually just leave the car out front with the valet staff. It's very convenient.

so if you wanted to rent a car for the day to go to ...lets say to go to Seaworld, and you wanted to leave the Dolphin at 7a.m and return at 9 pm, how would that work if the desk is only open from 8 to 4?

You won't be able to. You can rent 8AM - 8AM for a 1 day rental.

You can still return the car after 4PM to the Valet staff. You will get a valet receipt but not an Alamo/National receipt. The other suggestion is to return the car in the AM....we have done it both ways...

Hey highjacker - just kidding This will be our first time renting a car (since our honeymoon in '94). We just take the Lynx (city) bus to Sea World normally. It's around $1.50 each way per adult, and kids ride free for each adult fare. We catch it at the TTC, and it's always been a breeze.
