Aladdin's final performance on January 10, 2016

*sigh* This is getting ridiculous. Disney, please stop. I said it when I got home in February and I'll say it again: It's turning into Frozenland with the occasional mouse.

Part of the parks' appeal is that people of all ages can go and enjoy a mix of all generations of Disney and share that with every other generation they're with. I don't mind the ADDITION of Frozen stuff, but it's invading everything and it's getting ridiculous. They seem to be stripping so much of that classic Disney and classic Disneyland in favor of whatever is a hot moneymaker. I would want to take my future kids to DL to experience the park I loved when I was younger, but the way things are going, by the time I have kids it may be unrecognizable as Disneyland even.

I think the main reason people hate to see it go is because of the replacement. If it where Tangled or the Lion King people would be sad, but say I can it's ok after 13 years. But now it's Frozen and people get MAD :)
I think it's Sad Aladdin goes (it's fabulous) but come on 13 years is a long long time for a park show. So a replacement is ok. The only thing you can blame Disney is because of the replacement. They have 50+ classics they can choose from and again it's frozen.

Maybe it's good news for Muppet Lovers :)

YES! I would love to see a Lion King, Little Mermaid, Toy Story, etc etc etc show. Anything would be fabulous, but again it's Frozen...

To be fair to Disney, they did try the Toy Story musical and we brought out the pitchforks.

The timing for this is awful though. We have to assume the frozen singalong will stay in muppets until this is ready in the summer of 2016. By then the entire first season of the new muppet show will have aired and they missed all of that synergy. Sort of sloppy on Disney's part.

I still don't understand why the singalong couldn't have gone in one of the two giant show buildings that are currently sitting empty in Hollywood Land. That's how wdw did it when I was there (it's since been moved) and it was fine.

All of this news cements my decision to take a year off from Disney. My ap expires in March. I'll sit out 2016. Do wdw in 2017 (animal kingdom will be awesome) and head back to Disneyland in 2018. By then they'll probably be just a few years away from breaking ground on Star Wars. I will be able to enjoy the newly enhanced rides I missed such as Luigi's Frozen Tires, It's A Frozen World, Snowmen Of The Carribbean, Snow Mountain - all 3 of them, and Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Ice.

This.

I think if it were any other show I'd be sad, but not upset. I mean, you can see the Frozen show in Fantasyland (which is great!), the sing-a-long in the Muppets Theatre, and now ANOTHER Frozen musical? I thought Disney had numerous musicals to pull from, not just Frozen!

Just as a vaguely related side note....

I love me some Bradley Cooper -- and I was watching him on a late night talk show (it was on last night). He was there with Andrew Garfield and another guy. Somehow it got brought up that Bradley loves Frozen. He said he was "late to the party" with the movie, but as soon as he saw it he loved it, he thought it was great, he was crying during it, etc.

For a split second I almost forgot that I am sick of Frozen, because I was thinking "Awwww.... how cute... Bradley loves Frozen. That's so sweet!"

But now today I am back on my 'sick-of-Frozen' kick because of this latest news. (Hopefully, Bradley is not the one who contacted Disney and told them he needs more Frozen in his life and demands more of it in the parks! :lmao:)

Ooh, I actually won't mind a Tangled musical. The floating lanterns part would've been magical like the magic carpet ride. I would be sad to see Aladdin go, but for Tangled, I'd be okay with it.

I'm hoping I can see it when I go this year. I love Frozen. I still sing the soundtrak around the house, but man enough already!

I have to echo everyone else here, ENOUGH FROZEN ALREADY!!! Yes it was cute but they have run it into the ground. Time for something else.
So true that there is not enough classic Disney in the parks anymore. I too remember when they talked about replacing Aladdin, and were so happy when they didn't. We were just there last month and went to see it again. It doesn't get old. The genie is what makes it so much fun!
I am so glad that they did not do a Toy Story musical. We saw the one that they did on a Disney cruise we went on, and it was our least favorite show that we have seen on a Disney ship.
I also would love to see Tangled or Lion King.

DISNEY, PLEASE STOP THE FROZEN MADNESS!!

I am kinda looking forward to a new show in the theater. Aladdin has had a good run. But as with most things, new isn't doesn't always mean bad.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Aladdin. But we've seen it enough times that I wouldn't mind something new. But definitely not more Frozen! And I'm a big Frozen fan!

I don't see any way they put Frozen into the Hyperion AND keep the sing-a-long. So like so many things Disney lately.... I imagine this will merely turn into net loss when they close that.

We got to see the show on our trip in June. We loved it. I'm just sick it's going away, and we won't be back out there to see it either way.
I am one who does enjoy Frozen but realize it doesn't need to be everywhere and permeate everything.
The Sing A Long was a great show, very entertaining. I think it should be left alone and leave Aladdin alone too.
Who is it that really believes that this much Frozen is needed? Someone who never enters a park?

Disney needs to do like a company I worked for, Tractor Supply, did. I worked in the corporate office but every employee at the corporate level had to spend 2-3 days a year working in the store as a clerk. To remind ourselves who we truly worked for and to stay in touch with what they wanted. Surveys didn't really give you the full picture. Disney's bigger but they really need to send all their execs out in the parks for a few days to touch base with the customers

I would have loved Lion King, Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast in the Hyperion. And I love the Toy Story movies (1000 times more than I liked Frozen), so I would have dealt with a musical.
I agree with you 100%. Really anything other than Frozen would have been less of a slap in the face and much more palatable. This is really such a money-grubbing move on the part of Disney. It's sickening. Poor Genie... I hope he finds work on Broadway.

Well, I guess the fact I am waiting to see the Frozen show before pasing judgment puts me in the minority. Aladdin is a great show, but they can't really sell it on Broadway if there is already a watered down version of it playing in their parks included with admission. Sure, I would rather the new show be something besides Frozen, but I am looking at the glass as half full, since this probably means I get my Muppet theater back!

Just saw "Aladdin" last week for the second time in my life. It was so amazing and well-produced, acted, etc. There's no doubt that Disney could make another great production....I'm just so very tired of Frozen, that I would not even take the time out of the parks to see it. I skip the Frozen 'events' at WDW and will skip them at DL/ DCA as well. ....maybe another ride on Radiator Springs!

Silver lining, maybe this will pull more people away from rides? Though I guess 3-10 year old girls generally aren't interested in ToT, and RSR will be popular no matter what.....no, there is no silver lining.

I love Frozen. My kids love Frozen. And still I'm upset about this announcement. I love the Aladdin Musical and will have to make sure to see a few times on our Nov. trip.

I'm also wondering whether they'll keep the sing-a-long, which I actually think is great (and just the right level of Frozen). I can't imagine 2 shows, so close together.

With all the changes going on, I'm not as sad to see our passes expire in March. We were going to let them either way, but it's not as hard on the heart. We're going to Hawaii next year, so at least taking a year off. Hopefully we can plan a trip back when Star Wars land opens (which has my almost 7 yr old son is THRILLED about).

No, No, No, No, No.....enough Frozen already!!! I love Aladdin and while I am sad to see it go, I understand it has had a good long run. Yet we still go back and keep watching it over and over to see what new jokes the Genie has, etc. It was great for all ages. How many Moms, Dads and brothers are going to want to sit through another Frozen show once, much less multiple times (like people do with Aladdin)?

I would be sad but could accept the change if it was anything other than Frozen. I'm so sick of Frozen everywhere in the parks. There are so many better shows they could run.

I made a post similar to that on the blog when I saw the news but the moderators removed it (only happy, happy, positive posts allowed there, I guess). I'll send an email also. :(

Haven't you heard? Mickey and the Magical Map will be replaced in early 2016 with a new original stage production- Darth Vader vs. Kylo Ren: A Lightsaber Musical Extravaganza

I thought this was for real a second, and i about keeled over. lol!:rotfl:

And in other news, Mickey's Fun Wheel will be rethemed to Olaf's Fun Wheel, the Yeti will be replaced by Angry Elsa, Tom Sawyer's Island will become the kingdom of Arendelle, and since they still can't figure out what to do with Tomorrowland, Captain EO is returning yet again.

BARF. :crazy2:

While I like Frozen, it really feels like the hype has died down. People couldn't get enough and now it's oversaturated. I can't even get my 4-year-old to watch Frozen at this point, she burnt herself out.

If it was still in such high demand, couldn't they have kept the Frozen fun area going year-round?

I've actually never taken the time to see Aladdin (I'm not sure why, I loved the movie!), but I am definitely going to make it a point to see it next week when we're at the parks.

in the many times I have been to DL -- I have never taken the time to see Aladdin :-(
it is always on my to do list but our timing is usually off for getting in to see it! i am bummed that I won't get to see it now

we arrive in DL on Jan 12 2016 and it seems we are missing everything that is going away for good by one or two days -- BT BBQ and now Aladdin......grrrrr!
