Would this show be okay for a 3 year old to sit through? My son will be 4 the beginning of Dec. Is this something a preschooler would enjoy? How long is the show? He's good at sitting still when he needs to. He doesn't care for very loud noises, but he doesn't get upset when he hears them. He just covers his ears. If it's real long, I or my dh may just take my two oldest children to see Aladdin while the other takes our son somewhere else.

Thanks!

We took my little 2 year old cousin & she sat through it - There are enough elements in the show that I think he'll like it.

If I had an almost 4 year old, I would take him/her. The Aladdin show is probably close to an hour long, maybe even a little longer, but it moves quickly. There's a lot to look at, lots of action, comedy, great costumes, sets, music and dance numbers. If he knows and likes the movie, he will enjoy the show. The story line is pretty much the same as the movie, but being live makes it different--in a really good way. Just in case, bring something for him to play with if he gets bored, but I bet he won't.

It's actually a 45 minute show. Just don't sit too close to the front with a young child as there are a couple of show elements that might be scary.

Thanks for the responses! I think we will go ahead and take him! I should pop our Aladdin video in a few times the next couple of weeks so he becomes familiar with the story. I was hoping it wasn't *too long, and an hour or so sounds just right. I'll bring something for him to do quietly just in case. It sounds like it will hold his attention though. Thanks again!!

I would try to avoid getting in the balcony section. I'm a grown-up but I'm short and I had a hard time seeing everything from up there.

I much enjoy the show in the lower section so much better. Try to get near an aisle in the second section. The characters in the show dance and sing on by as they perform. I know a lot of little kids love this because the actors are close, but not in their faces.

Then again, if your wee ones might be frightened by this, the balcony is a good safe option to watch and not be in the thick of things if they sit on your laps.

The balcony's also fun if you can get up front -- it's neat looking straight out at the flying carpet, and looking down on the elephant DS8 was completely fooled and thought it was real. :goodvibes

I have to make a comment on the show...Officially it is a 45 minute show, but quite often it goes close to an hour as the Genie adlibs a lot. And I have seen the show go over an hour without it stopping in the middle, but that is rare. It is also rare when the show does stop in the middle, but I had it happen once and the show when on after they fixed a problem, I think we were in the theater for an hour and a half, but you can always leave if something like that happens.

This is my 4 and 2 year olds favorite show. Is he familiar with the movie? If so and he doesn't get scared, then it should be okay. We like the 2nd level, Mezzanine, I believe. It's a perfect view for them and the carpet flies right at eye level, yet we are not too close to the stage so they can see and take in everything. Hope you have a great time.

I see the show a few times on each of my trips, it is fine for a 4 year old. Depending on which day of the week you are going, you need to be in line about 45 minutes prior to show time - especially if it is busy and you want to sit together as a family. People tend to leave a seat between them and the party next to them and then don't want to move, even when asked.

The best seats in the house are the first row of the back section on the Orchestra level. (Floor level) and the first or second row of the mezzanine level (2nd level). Personally there are no good seats on the balcony level (3rd level) as it is very high up and has a steeper step sequence than mezzanine. I believe the earlier posters were referring to the mezzanine level, not the balcony level.

Don't be swayed by the rush of people to sit in the front row, it isn't the best seat for a child as the chairs are lower than the stage floor and the child will be looking up to the stage through the whole show.

Enjoy the show!

I might be wrong on this, but I thought there was 3 levels. Stage level, 2nd level, and balcony. We were on the 2nd level, about 2 rows up, and it was great. you could still see everything. When the animals and characters march around, they went right on the pathway between the back of the stage level seats and front of the 2nd level seats, so it was right in front of us.

I love the Genie jokes. When we were there the jokes were about American Idol, Donald Trump etc... funny!

This show is great. It is one of those shows that if it was on tour, you would pay like $40 a person. And it is free!

I think a 3-4 year old would thoroughly enjoy it! :flower:

My daughter (5) loves this show. We've seen it at least 9 times so far. When we first saw it she was 3-3 1/2. She didn't know the story at all. Now it's one of her favs. Regarding sitting in front, that's where we always sit! The scary element (big giant snake) is located on the left side as you are facing the stage. We try to sit on the right side first or second row, on the end. The dancers and animals come right by and interact with the audience. My DD loves to touch the camels.

One important thing to know, since it is a fairly long show (45 minutes or longer) make sure everyone in your party uses the restroom first. The closest one is by Cruella's trailer to the left of theatre. If you have to leave to go to the restroom, once the show starts you can't get back in.

This show is Broadway good with lots of surprises-don't forget to look up! This is as good, or better, than the Beauty and the Beast show Disneyland had that become the idea for the Broadway version. There is an additional song by Jasmine that is just beautiful (yes, we bought the CD) The Genie is hysterical. :rotfl2: Some of his humor is very topical.

Have a great time! 40 days and counting to WDW!

Sounds like a wonderful show! Thanks for the seating info. We have PS seating through our vacation package, so I'm not sure what that means exactly, but hopefully we will get good seats! My son isn't familiar with Aladdin yet, but I thought I'd play the video a couple of times before we leave. He's watched other Disney movies that have somewhat scary parts to them and it doesn't phase him, so I think he'd do fine. :)

Thanks again everyone!!

Thanks again everyone!!

Priority Seating is that you will go in after the VIP seating is complete. VIP seating is usually only a few people each show, so you will have your pick of seats.

Enjoy the show!

You will get good seats with PS. Be sure you go to the PS entrance to line up, not the general entrance at the back of the theater by TOT. The PS queue area is at the front of the theater. Enter at the ticket booth. There should be a CM there to direct you. Have fun! We had front row seats with PS and loved it.
