I feel a little stupid asking this, but can someone explain to me how lining up for the Aladdin show at DCA works? The last time I saw a show in that theater was about 6 years ago (it was the show BLAST! which was really good, btw). At that time they had us get tickets from someone standing out at the entrance to the hollywood backlot area. Then we took that ticket to the theater at a certain time to get in line for the show. I haven't noticed anyone handing out tickets recently so I'm assuming they aren't doing this any more. Do you just go stand in line? Are there different lines for the different areas of the theater? Do you get to pick what area of the theater you want to sit in or do they just tell you where to go? How long before the show starts should you get in line?

No tickets, just line up. Where you wait depends on where you want to sit. We like the balcony and mezzanine so we stand off to the side to get our seats. We lined up pretty early when we saw it last (our last trip) but we weren't doing anything else so we thought it would be worth it. :) I think we may have been in line 30-45 min. early....we didn't need to be we just were.

Thanks Pixie! DH and I want to try to see this next time we go without DS.

I'm with Pixie & have sat (twice) front row balcony. Great view & great seats. Our experience upon arrival:

- arrived 20 min. before a show.
- Two lines....a LONG line waiting for downstairs...a shorter line waiting for balcony.
- We were 15th - 20th in line. They walked us up an outdoor staircase prior to door opening.
- When the doors opened, EVERYONE shuffled in & started down the first stairway aisle (to the right next to the wall).
- We walked (to the left) around the shuffling herd & on down to the 2nd or 3rd stairs (center aisle) & down to the front row center.
- The rest of the herd (who went down the first stairway against the wall) ended up shuffling down toward the center aisle & sat next to us or behind us. :thumbsup2

We saw this show when we went in Dec. We totally loved it. We waited outside in line for the Mezzanine, so we could see the top of the flying carpet, instead of under it. ;) The line looks totally long and seems like there will be no way to get all of those people in there. But, it was really orderly and worked out really well. We even had my mom with us in an ecv and it was just fine - took a couple of extra minutes waiting for the elevator, but that's it.

Oooh..... thanks Hound for the detailed instructions. :thumbsup2 So, is there a sign somewhere saying which line is for the upstairs section?

We do what Hound does. :) And yes, when you get in keep walking to the opposite side, for whatever reason everyone tries to sit down right when they get in and there are always great seats on the other side. When you get there to wait just ask the CM's where to wait and they will direct you. We waited off to the left of the entrance, there were a couple trees there and we waited by those trees.

Are they closing Aladdin at some time this year and putting in a new show or have they put this on hold for the time being? I really hope they dont cause I love this show. Great tips for lineups guys.

Thanks everyone! Hopefully we'll be able to go soon. :goodvibes

LavenderPeach, I sure am glad that you started this thread. I was looking for this kind of info, too. I have been watching Aladdin on the BDH podcast. I think he was in the balcony. It sure looks like a great show, and I can't wait to see it!

This is the best show ever :hyper: This is a totally not to miss show. I enjoy the big elephant walking into the theater. AMAZING

Oh, I have to say, that Balcony is high and if you are front row, I hope you are not afraid of heights. We were two rows back (and the view was great) and there were a couple of little kids bouncing in the front row and I swear they were going to go over. But they didn't so all's well that ends well, but I was glad I was not up there.
