Al Gore uses 20 TIMES as much electricity as you do

NOW I understand why some on here are so fascinated with hero worshipping Al Gore for his monumental contributions to the environmentalist cause.

They are all hypocrites too. They talk endless smack about "greenie" issues and how were all going to die because of global warming yada yada, but when the subject comes up about their lifesyles, they're all still driving in large normal eternal combustion engine SUVs, living in as big of houses as they can possibly afford without utilizing any solar panels etc., etc.

So it makes total sense that Al Gore would be their hero, they don't walk the walk either, just talk the talk. Apparently just talking about environmentalist causes makes you a environmentalists activists and a "savior of the planet."

Pretty funny weird wild stuff. And take this :rotfl2: and a :rotfl: with a side order of :lmao:

I'm not missing the point, this is politics as usual, the same tactics the left and the right use on their political enemies. However, Gore's pro-environmental speeches come off sounding a little hollow considering his lavish lifestyle. If he wants the average American to make changes, he should try living like the average American.

So should every other politician as well. If they did maybe they would actually make changes that benefit the average american. Truth is the majority of politicians come from money, have free healthcare and travel and don't understand the pains of being the average american. Why should Gore be held to different standards then anyone else who has ever run for office?

Out of curosity - how do you know what I drive or the lifestyle I live? Seems premature to call me a hypocrite just because I don't think Gore is wrong on this.

You're looking at this with waaaay too narrow a view.

None of this matters unless Gore is running for president.

This was a pre-emptive trial balloon by the Republican slime machine. If this goes nowhere OR only effects Gore among Republicans, you will never hear of this again.

I appreciate your response and believe it or not, I like reading your view point on a lot of the issues. I may not agree with a lot of them, but I find you and a couple of others here, required reading.

On to the meat of your post.

I think you're assuming that I'm coming at this from a political angle, I'm not. Al Gore hasn't been a politician since Feb 2001. I also think he isn't going to ever run again for public office. He has been a high profile, private citizen who's been heavily advocating changes and cutbacks on behalf of Global warming. I have never liked or cared for Hollywood celebrities or famous artists in the Music industry who preach about every social issue they can get on their plate. But in reality, live a completely different life in private. I'm not coming at this from a political angle, but from a personal level. I don't care for blatant hypocrisy, never have, never will. Admit it or not, Al Gore is a hypocrite.

I used Bill Bennett as a good example because at one time I somewhat admired his work and made it a point to listen him. When the story broke out that he had blown millions in casinos, he gave some lame excuse and tried to white wash the whole thing, much like what Al Gore is doing. I made the decision to never listen to or read anything Bill Bennett had done since. Anyone who loses many millions in a casino, has a gambling problem and no matter what good he had been advocating in the past with his preaching about morals, was flushed down the toilet. I can't take anything he says, seriously.

This is just the tip of the ice burg with Al Gore. The man owns 3 other residences and uses a fleet of SUV's. I'll be willing to bet that none of his other homes are energy efficient either. It takes more to lead the way on the Global warming issue than just give it lip service and donate money. Anyone can write a check or talk about the problem. Like it or not, he's the face of the Global warming issue in this country and should really lead the way, not just release statements. If the Global warming issue is as dire as some say it is, then we all are going to be facing some cutbacks and they're going to be painful, they always are. I feel on this issue everyone should be in the same boat.

I don't remember naming any names, so seems like a certain someone has a certain guilty conscious.:confused3

And, IMO, if the only people who are affected by this are those who wouldn't vote for Al Gore even if he stuck a $100 bill in their pocket, this will go away and you will never hear of it again.

It'll be no different if something pops up about Giuliani, McCain, etc.

It is a political trial balloon, IMO.

Putting more words in peoples mouths AGAIN, feel free to prove me wrong by quoting somebody in this thread.

The only thing I'm assuming is the motivation behind the Tennessee group. And, IMO, it is a political trial balloon that is either going to fail or succeed. And if it fails to damage Gore among those who would possibly vote for him, it'll be a dead issue. That's it. There's nothing else behind it.

People are certainly entitled to whatever opinion they wish to form. I don't assume anything in that regard.

And thank you for your kind words. :goodvibes

LOL! When you make a blanket statement then no names are really neccessary. I don't have a guilty conscious - you just have a big mouth.

I think "smack" is the key word here. ;)

Careful this is where he usually cries about personal attacks.

Countdown last night had a good breakdown on the Gore energy bill. Here is a link so that you actually watch the segment. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/02/28/olbermann-on-gores-energy-use-setting-the-record-straight/ According to the power company, many smaller homes in Vice President Gore's neigborhood use more power than the Gores. Again, comparing the Gore home to the average power bill is silly.

The silly thing is Al Gore should have built a brand new, state of the art home and made it a showcase for every new energy saving device that is out there now. That's being a leader and showing the way. He's the face of Global warming and seems to be it's official spokesperson, he had to realise that people would notice where and how he lives. I've seen pictures of Al Gore's home and it looks like one of the Southern mansions you see in movies like Gone with Wind. It's a huge, white elephant of a home and shouldn't be the personal home for someone who's advocating change and cutbacks in this country on behalf of the enviroment.

You just moved into a new energy efficient home, Doctor, why couldn't he?

The silly thing is that you want Al Gore to be "GREEN" by your standards, he is just being green by the standards he has been advocating nothing more and nothing less. Unless you can show where he has advocated the cutback of "southern mansions", I dont see any hypocrisy. It is not his fault you feel he is the face of global warming.

I have never claimed that I don't necessarily have a big mouth.:lmao:

(But just on the internet)

But I think a certain someone needs to go to Target and buy a sense of humor.:rotfl2:

It's his money - he can buy whatever home he wants to.

~Amanda

Of course he can. He shouldn't hold himself up to be some kind of example of restrained living for the benefit of the environment while he lives the kind of life that the average person (to whom he preaches restrained living) cannot hope to attain. It's nice for him that he can afford to live in the lap of luxury and still be relatively green, but it's just not possible for most people to live that kind of lifestyle and be green.

Well he just won an academy award for a documentary which appeals to people to change their lifestyles.

And, as I have said several times, "politician" and "hypocrite" go hand in hand.

I think most people fall in the middle and these kinds of things DO affect their decisions. Of course people firmly in one camp or the other won;t be swayed by this, but most people are not firmly in one camp or the other.
