Well, i'm going in December and booked my rooms day by day, but for the last 3 days I wanted concierge. I got what I wanted the first day but not the 2nd or 3rd. Was put on the waitlist for those two nights, very doubtful I would get them.

Decided now that I would just try to stay in my non-concierge room for the last 3 nights only to call this morning and discover that there are no rooms at all for the days that I want. No studio's, 1 beds or anything.

Now, unless the waitlist comes through I will be changing rooms twice in the same hotel. UGH!! :headache:

Do you think any Kidani rooms will be ready early?? I don't want to change rooms, especially twice!

I called day by day as soon as it opened. I hope that this will not be a routine thing even after Kidani opens.:scared: :scared:

December seems to be VERY popular with DVC members, especially early December. From reading threads from other resorts, I would expect that you'll see demand FAR outstrip inventory during that month, even after Kidani is finished.

I would waitlist for the savannah view room, now. You've got a good chance of that coming through.

My wife and I called, day by day, for our upcoming December trip. Even after being told it probably wasn't necessary. I'm not sure when, precisely, you're calling to book, but this story makes me VERY glad we did.

I called for December 4-10. I just can't believe they are booked for those dates already in all Villa's!

That is a VERY popular time for DVC. Low points, Christmas decor and small crowds are the reasons.

LOL. We're at the All Star Family suites from the 4th - the 6th..and then at AKV from the 6th - the 12th. As I said: Now I'm REALLY glad we called day by day!

You will have a MUCH better chance of getting the wait list for a Savannah level room come through. There is still inventory to be declared out on Kudo trail...and as they declare inventory, I'd think they'd try to satisfy wait lists with it, first. Maybe not, but it would make sense. There IS no more concierge, value, or standard inventory to declare...at least I don't think there is. Lisa S would know better, but from her maps, that's what I take away.

I agree! With more Savanna View villas still to be declared in Jambo House, I would expect that waitlisting for a Savanna View villa would be the best strategy. I would hope that as they declare those units and they become available to be booked on points that they would go to those on the waiting list. All of the Value, Standard View and Concierge villas in Jambo House are already declared, so all inventory of those room types is already in the system. If the current sales pace continues, they will declare more units every 1-1/2 to 2 months so it's possible that all remaining rooms in Jambo House will be declared between now and early December. There are also rumors that some part of Kidani may be open by the end of the year.

I was quite shocked though. Today I booked an AKV Grand Villa for Dec 23-26, and the CM even said there was still inventory left.

There are only 5 GV at AKV now, so I was very surprised. Guess no one wants to spend their Christmas in a GV there.

My guess is that the ponts cost is just TOO high, all things considered. That week of X-mas is one of the highest weeks (along with easter), total, for points use and the premium on the GV is something like 20% over even magic season.

When I booked our AKV trip yesterday, we were able to get into a 2 BR savanna view but concierge was completely booked. So we're waitlisted for concierge. MS said if we haven't heard anything about Kidani Village's opening date by October, we should call in October or November to ask if there are rooms open there. AKV is so point heavy, if we can't get concierge and Kidani Village will be open by December, I may just call MS and downgrade to a 1 BR savanna view in Kidani. We really want 2 bathrooms, so if there is no hope on staying in concierge, might as well save those points 2 BR points and do a 1 BR Kidani Village instead.
