AKV: What views will be available on 5/16 for September?

There seem to be a few bits and pieces on differnt threads, but I'm asumming the following:

On May 16, I (as an AKV point owner) can book AKV from 9/1/07-4/16/07.

What views will be available with the first phase? (September?)

When will othe views become available? Will we be able to book them 5/16?

Will non AKV owners be able to book on 5/16?

I know no one will know for sure, but I'm wondering what people are thinking right now.

I think your dates are correct for booking. My guess is phase one views will be standard or savannah only with the value and club levels coming available in May of 08. I think the date for non AKV owners to book is early June.
That being said I'm sad that I can't use my new points to book Club level for my October trip.

I think that there will also be value studios available in the 1st phase, but that value 1BR and 2BR will not be available until 2008. Some (maybe a lot) of the value studios will have savanna views.

I have not talked to my guide about this but according to the map published on the member web site, the zebra trail will be the first finished, with standard and savannah rooms available. After that the Kudu trail with more savannah rooms. Final phase will be the value rooms on the ostrich and giraffe trails and concierge rooms on the 6th floor.

Edit to add: There may be a few value view room in the other phases but most will be in the final phase.

This is the info we've garnered. Some of it from our guide, some of it from others who spoke to THEIR guides:

As an owner, you can book on 5/16, within the 11 month window.

The only category NOT available at opening will be the Concierge category. Concierge is supposed to be available in May '08, along with more value rooms.

There will be LIMITED value rooms available, mostly standard and savannah rooms.

The guides are saying the next "phase" will open in Dec of '07. Mostly savannah view, some standard view [not sure where they get that from, looking at the map we've seen...looks like ALL Savannah to me], and a limited number of value rooms. The final phase will open in May of '08, and will contain Concierge rooms and the majority of the value rooms. Now, considering these rooms are conversions...whether they'll open them slowly as "non-declared inventory" or not is anyone's guess. As for being able to book them, since at least the rooms coming on line in Dec are within the 11 months window...I don't know. I'm not sure if they'll allow booking based on projected inventory or not. I would assume so.

Non-AKV owners can NOT book on 5/16. The date we've heard talked about for them is June 6th, though I've not seen that confirmed by a guide. Someone else may have more concrete info..but it was pointed out that the June 6th date might violate something in the POS about granting owners at least 30 days of exclusivity. Not sure on that, just rambling based on posts here at the DIS.

Okay. I am confused

What is the differance between the "V" Value Accomodations and "S" Standard View?

To me if I was to book an "S" room my view would be of the parking lot and once everything was built could be in either the current lodge building or in the new building.

"SV" gives me a view of the savanna and once everything is built my room could be in either building.

The "C" gives me access to Concierge and these rooms will only be located in the current building. My view would be like it is today when you book concierge they tech. do not garentee a savanna view but if you are okay with not staying on the 6th floor getting a savanna view room does not appear to be an issue.

The "V" is what I do not understand. What is my view? It is pool view or it is a pot luck view in what is the current building so when everything is built and you book a "V" room you would be in the current building and your view could be either pool or parking lot?

Am I close in what I am thinking?

Right now we have a standard concierge room with dinning booked for this coming September and since it seems like concierge rooms are not going to be avaiable to DVC memebers in Sept I am thinking of keeping those reservations and then possiablly buying into the DVC when we are down there and then use our points for our Jan 2008 and June 2008 trips. What do you think. We would never want to book anything less than a savanna view though.

I think that you are on pretty much on target. My understanding is that Value rooms will be in both buildings but they will only accomodate 4/4/8 vs. 4/5/9, they will be smaller and the 1BR values will not have 2 baths. Not sure on the views but again I think they will be mixed.

I just do not want to buy until "c" level rooms are going to be avaiable to book. Maybe do one contract for the 160min and then an add-on for another 90. Not even sure if this can be done but it what I am thinking.

If you only want to stay in club level studio at AKL, you may want to wait to buy until there is some feedback on the DIS about how difficult these clubs rooms are to book. There is a very pesistent rumor that there will be only 5 2BR lockoffs sold as club level rooms.

As a result, I would guess that usually there will only be 2 or 3 studio club level rooms available to book on any given night at the 11 month window. You may have a better chance to win a night in Cinderella's Castle than to book those rooms for multi-night stays twice a year every single year.

With regard to the value rooms, the rumor is that they will be truly mixed views, including some savanna views (at least for studios). The value studio may be as small as 316 sf. I would guess that most, if not all, will be in the current building.

I agree. The info I got is that only the Lodge will have value rooms. They are smaller or oddly shaped rooms. On the public DVC website, they list a range of sizes for each villa type in "Jambo House" (the Lodge).

Studios: 316-365 sq. ft. in Jambo House, 366 sq. ft. in Kidani Village
1BR: 629-710 sq. ft. in Jambo House, 807 sq. ft. in Kidani Village
2BR lockoff: 945-1075 sq. ft. in Jambo House, 1,173 sq. ft. in Kidani Village

The smaller sizes are the value villas: Studio: 316 sq ft, 1BR: 629 sq ft, 2BR lockoff: 945 sq ft.

What about just regular "SV" studios? I would be okay with either an "SV" or a "C" studio.

Then, it looks like you'll be buying into DVC soon 'cuz all indications are that something like 75% of the units will have a savanna view. Owners who can book more than 7 months out should have no problem booking SV, esp. after the Jambo House is fully open. Welcome Home! -- Suzanne

That is cool. Booking at the 11month mark is not a problem for us. I have a feeling that we will be owners by the end of our Sept. trip at the latest. This site is great for information.
