I am surprised...I was able to get one, yes for a Friday night, but still, in December, and it's only 16 points. I didn't want to spend too many points, but instead of staying at a Fairfield Inn (free for Marriott points) I wanted to be on site. We head out to see the Manatees in Blue Springs and do some other around Florida sightseeing the next day, meanwhile, I can have morning coffee looking at animals, if not from my balcony, from the pool/outside sitting areas and then see the lovely manatees later. Those lovely, gentle creatures are special to me, I can hardly believe that they are allowed to exist in the wild. I know they have problems, but I do try to protect them through organizations.

I feel very lucky!

It's still possible you will looking at animals from my balcony. Some value studio has savanna view.

So far, we've been 50/50 with our value placement. 2 pool view and 2 savannah view. I have found that the pool area at Jambo is pretty empty in the morning, around 7-8 or so, and I do like to walk around then, go to a whirlpool, take a dip in the pool, and look at the flamingos.

Bobbi,
A little OT, but have you swam with the manatees? If so, where and how was it? I know it is very early--we always say we will but can't get up & out that early.
Congrats on you Ak ressie. I think we will be at BWV the same time.

It's been about 5 years but I did swim with manatees in the Crystal River. There were rules about what you were allowed to do, and the manatees had safe areas where people couldn't follow them. I don't know if this is allowed any more. I did an internet search at the time. I was so amazed at how large they are when you are so close, and I saw a typical scene of a mother with her calf, swimming next to each other.

Yes you can still do it! We have it bookmarked so we can go in April when we head down to Orlando for a trip with the fam. Since our DVC unit is Sunday to Sunday, we figured we could head down on Sat night stay around Crystal River, do the snorkeling tour, and then head on to Disney.

There are several places that do the manatee tours, this is one that was recommended in a dive magazine:
