Hi all,

Just a quick question from a non-owner (hoping to change that very soon). How difficult is it to get an AKV value studio at the 7 month mark? I have read there are not many value studios and I am wondering how much demand there might be for them. We usually travel during the Adventure or Choice Season, and I am aware that just about anything might be difficult at the 7 month mark during F&W or or close to Christmas. So, F&W and Christmas aside, how hard might this be?

so far not too bad. been getting them fairly easily - you do realize that the value studio is smaller than the standard studio.

Yes I have read that they are smaller, we don't spend much time in the room. We are interested in getting the most nights out of our points the first year. If we purchase 100 pts, this would mean 12 nights :thumbsup2 (sunday-thursday nights) at a value studio, if available.pixiedust:

It won't be too terribly hard if your travel dates are flexible but...
be aware that if you can't get a ressie the waitlist is very tricky due to the small number of units and cash value rooms are not available.
You may have to move to a more point expensive room if you have "holes" in your reservation.
The value studios also have booking categories (lockoff and dedicated studios) which further complicate things. A value studio may be available but if you are in a dedicated which is partially available, you may need to move to a lockoff for one or more nights to fill the holes.

Be ready to be flexible and best of luck!

Not sure I'd recommend a purchase requiring a Value Studio to keep you happy in your DVC ownership. Remember AKV is nearly doubling (with Kidani) the amount of owners that can book the values at 11 months. You could be setting up your expectations for failure or misery.

If you are 100% OK staying in your home resort's studio (for a shorter stay), and only consider the AKV Value to be a nice (but never expected) bonus, then go for it!

As an AKV owner, we usually only book value studios or 1 bedrooms for Friday and/or Saturday nights. 2 weeks ago, I'm trying to get a studio anywhere for the dates of December 7 and 8 and I was only able to get a value studio for the 8th and no studios at all in the system...I tried as late as this past Monday. So, I have one night at Pop and 1 night in a value studio...I consider myself very lucky.

At 7 months I do think you will be very lucky to get a value studio 50% of the time...the point values are so reasonable and there's a chance of savannah view, I think mostly owners will book them.

remember that OKW is the same amount of points. sun-thurs

the standard view at AKV and the standard view at BWV - are the same amount as well(mostly) Sun-thurs

This is not the case, I simply would like to "try" to get the most out of my points. I will be perfectly happy elsewhere if I am unable to get a value studio, but it would certainly be my preference to get the most out of my points. I am aware that the 7 month window can be very tricky and I might not find what I need, but our schedules are very flexible and I am hoping this will help. We don't have specific week or month when we absolutely have to go, as long as it falls somewhere it the adventure or choice season it will work for us. I just wanted to have a realistic idea of weather or not this would even be possible, but I will be perfectly happy at the home we choose (we are leaning towards SSR).

pre change in booking policy, i was able to secure day-by-day this October (F&W & MNSSHP time) & again had success for late June this year:thumbsup2

I was surprised to get a value 1BR for the first week of June. I then realized that I called 3 days before the 7-month window so that might have had something to do with it. There are only 10 units in the value category, all of which are 2BR lock-offs (I think....please correct me, LisaS!:goodvibes ) That means that there is a maximum of 10 value studios available at any given time. Anyone who books a 2BR takes a studio and 1BR out of that inventory. That is why I was so shocked to get one at just over 7 months. I guess it can be done.

Good Luck with your decision! You'll love AKV:love: !

i booked a value studio at the akv seven months out for our upcoming feb pre cruise trip for 3 nights (37 pts) one is a friday. thought this was a great way to maximize my points. our fave however is ssr.
