AKV Value Accommodations Questions

I am thinking about reserving a Studio at the AKV and I notice there is a big difference in points between the Value accomodations and the other room categories. I have two questions:

First, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on which type of room would be better for my wife and two daughters (2yrs. old and 9 months) for a Feburuary stay during President's Week 2011? Is there a big dropoff in quality in the Value rooms?

Also, if anyone had any thoughts on whether or not Kidani Village would be better for us or the Jambo House?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

Values are only in Jambo.

They are value only because they are smaller - shorter. It's nothing to do with quality. They are just as "nice" - it's only about size - a bit more of a cramped layout. But I love them.

You have a chance of getting a Savanna view - at check-in simply luck of the draw - as Value studios are pool, savanna and few parking lot views.

Buses come first to Kidani and that could be a huge factor for strollers if you are taking transportation.

Jambo has the CS restaurant which might be important to you in a studio with small children.

Am I hurting your head? :lmao:

If you want low points - I would do Standard at Jambo - a little more room for four - and they are pool view. I loved the view.

If transportation with the strollers is a factor I would do Savanna if I could still get it at Kidani - low floor best view there. Also, your two year old would probably love the pool play area at Kidani.

Standard at Kidani are not as mice of a view for the most part.

Have fun,

Lisa

To this family, the only reason to book a stay at AKV is to get a savanna view. You can get that pool view or parking lot view at any resort. But you can only get the savanna view at AKV/AKL.

I just came back from a stay in a value studio. My suggestion would be to stay anywhere you can at Jambo house. Kidani is too far away from the resort amenities. Way too much walking with the little ones. I don't care how much bigger Kidani may be. It's not worth being away from the conveniences at Jambo.

I booked a value studio, havent stayed there yet but in my research learned values are 3 feet shorter room is 10 feet long so 30 less square feet.

I have a value studio booked for Feb 13-17, just DH and I will be there, but now DD maybe coming with us. She did not get a teaching job for this year (just graduated from college), so since she will only be subbing she may come with us. We'll have the bed and her the fold out. I'm sure we will manage. We have stayed in a standard view (pool) at Jambo and loved it. Also in a 2 bedroom at Jambo, savanna view and loved that. We like Jambo much better. The only thing in a two bedroom I don't like is not having a separte shower in the master bath. I don't care for the pool location at Kidani, especially if you are far away from it. Both times at Jambo, we were near elevator, took it right down to pool area.

Jambo has a great Dry Playground.
Early February might be a bit cold to swim much or play on the wet playground at Kidani.

We love getting food at Mara, the CS at Jambo, and bring it back to our room to eat with the little ones.
Although, in a studio that might be a little harder with no real kitchen table.

There are plenty of places to view the Animals if you don't have a Savanna View Room.
We love to walk around the resort grounds and see the animals that way.

It might be a bit tight with a pack and play in a value though.
We think the Studios at Jambo seem bigger.
It must be the lay out. :confused3

Overall we prefer Jambo over Kidani.
But Kidani is great too.
We always go to Kidani to swim.
But we like having the Restaurants closer at Jambo.
Plus we have two preschoolers and fit in better at the noisier Jambo House. :)

We just returned from our stay in a 2 bedroom value/pool view. Absolutely loved it. What's nice about the pool view wing is the stairs are at the end of the hall & lead right out to the bus stop and the elevator a few doors town brings you out to the pool & Mara. SO convienient!

Thank you all for taking the time to respond to my questions and concerns. My wife and I now have a better idea what to expect.

Thanks,

Scott
