I saw the 'Free Dining' post Disney made and decided to tinker about in their system, seeing how much they charge these days. When I put in the days leading up to Christmas (18-24), I noted that they offer an extremely hard-to-get room from the DVC collection from the Value category.

I'm an AKV owner, so it doesn't make much difference to me, but for those folk holding out for that 7 month window to open, I thought it odd that Disney-hotel side is offering this particular room category under their services now. I know I've read of at least one person waiting for it and feel bad that it may be taken by a non-DVC person before they have a chance at it.

What you see may have already been taken by a person trading out, that would explain why you saw it through CRO. When you trade out of DVC they send the room to CRO to recoupe their/our expenses.

Truth is we have no way of knowing how DVC/Disney allocates rooms, They have a revenue accounting group that makes those decisions to maximize profit. I know that a DVC AKV Club Level room was not available for booking by DVC because they showed zero availability. A manager was nice and pulled it back from Disney so we could book it.

Also remember that the Cash room designations, like "Value" may not mean the same thing as a "Value" DVC room designation. For cash, it may mean anything that isn't Pool/Garden or Savannah view. More like a "Standard" view for DVC.

Or, the hotel might really only have a savannah view 1BR room Available, but they advertise all 3 categories. If you book a lower category, you get a "free upgrade" at check in

This is under the villas:

Studios & Villas

A queen sleeper-sofa and coffee table across from a TV armoire and table with 2 chairs
1 Bedroom Villa - Value
Views of Landscape or Parking Area

1 King Bed and 1 Queen-Size Sleeper Sofa

Sleeps up to 4

Package with a Dining Plan
Package with a Dining Plan $5,613.69 $ 5,613 69 USD

Yes, that describes a DVC Standard View, as the DVC Value rooms at AKL are not view based, and can include a Savannah view room, for DVC the Value refers to some smaller units in Jambo house only. The cash description look like it could be a Standard DVC villa at either Jambo or Kidani.

Basically what Cash Reservations calls "Value" is different than what DVC calls "Value."

I can see this happening say, 3 months out. But to offer the low-inventory DVC rooms even before the 7 month window opens doesn't make sense to me.

As for trading out, I'll admit I have no idea how that works, so it's a possibility.

This is all under "Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House"

1 Bedroom Villa - Standard View is listed separately and is unavailable.

Only the DVC Values at Jambo House can have a view of the parking lot. I would suspect that this is really a DVC Value 1-Bedroom.

In addition to trade outs, rooms are sent to CRO from points that DVC itself owns.

As others have said, what CRO has may not match up with what DVC has. At BWV, they only show "standard view" on the CRO website. The reality is most of those reservations get pool/garden view and are not taking away DVC standard view points rooms.

I think this is the key, Disney owns points and if they can pull inventory into an expensive season and sell it as cash they are there to make a profit. It is frustrating for those they may want the room on points, but the owners likely had a shot at 11 months out.

And, it is certainly possible that the value listed is a value room. But, is there anything to indicate on the website that when booking a value villa it is smaller than the standard size villa? If not, then it is possible that Disney chooses different ways to apply the terms because that is what makes a standard studio at Jambo different than the value...

If you check out cash for BWV, the studios are always listed as standard when in fact, they are pool/garden views...its just a way to distinguish between standard room and something that offers more...
