Just returned from a 4 night stay in a GV at Jambo from 5/5-5/9. First, the bad. I got either food poisoning vs stomach flu on the second day, which put a damper on mt activity level for the rest of the stay, yet still had a good time. It looks exactly like the photos on the DVC website. The only "bad" things (which are extremely trivial) in my opinion about a GV in Jambo are there's not a lot of inside lounging areas, and could use a couple more small garbage cans. Otherwise, it was absolutely AMAZING!!! No better place to get sick:). The place was huge with 3 large balconies and always saw animals. Very quiet and relaxing. Jacuzzi was wonderful. Lots of electrical outlets and 2 internet ports. Pool table was a bonus. I'm not a big African themed person, but loved the colors. Never heard outside noise, except some birds in the morning. As for the inlaws,:rolleyes1. I have seen it posted several times to not expect people's behavior to change when you take them to Disney for a basically all expense paid trip. This is very true. If they're "frugal", expect that to continue and potentially be worse.

Welcome back! Time to plan the next trip!!

Sorry to hear you were down ill. I've had the flu in Disney before and like you I came to the conclusion that if your going to be sick anyway, there's no better place to be while so.

I also found that WDW tends to amplify people's good and bad traits. I guess even the size of the GV didn't impress them? You should have shown them what the villa goes for on cash. Hehe.

Jambo's still very nice, but Kidani has taken over in my heart... It's so much quieter and I never feel like I'm imposing on anyone's space when I find a seat in the Library, lobby or viewing areas.

I'm glad you enjoyed your villa. One day we'll stay in one...
As for the inlaws, I completely agree. We brought my SIL and her dd, my niece. Their family is very frugal. We went on this trip specifically so that dn could could to Disney "one last time" as her parents put it. We put them up in the room and paid for all of the food. We only got to eat at one TS restaurant during the trip, and they didn't even offer to pay for that.

We're fine with it, but still don't get it. If someone was putting me up in a beautiful room and paying for me to eat, I would at least offer to buy them breakfast. But that's just me.:rolleyes1

Wll im planning to bring my in laws. Its me , DH, DS,DD and soon to be DS. My mil, fil, and sil. My mil told me to give them the master beccause they want there own room and for us to take one of the other bedrooms since my whole family could sleep there. Uh, excuse me arent we paying for this trip

Sorry to hear about the food poisoning! :( Glad to hear you still enjoyed your stay! I'm hoping to book a GV there in the future once DH and I start a family. Yikes on your in-laws, though! Oh, my. I don't know what you went through, but it doesn't sound good at all. Props to you for not letting it get to you and enjoying your trip, nonetheless!

If they want their own room I'd point them to the Disney website and let them book their own room. Call me what you want, but if they're my points, unless my in laws were very special people (ie; great hearts, giving, sharing, and/or have special needs) and I offered it, they would not get the prime bedroom. Your MIL & FIL sound like they need their own place booked on their own CC.

Adding to update - I can't imagine my parents ever demanding the master bedroom, so I can't come at this from your husband's point of view. Good luck to you all!

Awesome, what room were you in? were heading there this fall, oh great so my son hanging all over is girlfriend will continue at disney:headache:

My husband would agree about taking in-laws. It took a Disney trip to finally see that my own flesh and blood could be royal pains in the butt.

Sorry about your food poisoning. On our last trip my husband had such a bad asthma attack that the paramedics had to come to our room to bring him to the hospital for a nebulizer treatment! I was so scared, but the management at AKV was phenomenal. They made sure everything was OK. But it was certainly a trip we will never forget!

Thank you for posting this! I'll be staying in a GV at Jambo in Sept-Oct. with my in-laws and my family :scared1:. You said there were plenty of outlets. Do you think if I brought an entire box of outlet covers that would be enough? I have to small children and I want to make sure I have enough covers. Thank you!

Sorry you got sick. Our nephew had the same thing when we took them to Jambo last January. He too said it was a great place to just stay in and BE sick at!

I would about cut my arms off to stay in an Jambo House GV, but since we only have 69 points at AKV, I doubt that is ever going to happen. I'd have enough points to do it at the 7 month window combining my OKW points, but that's probably not likely to ever be available.

My husband came down with the same stomach flu/bug when we were there in February and on the second day too. He was down for the count for the rest of our stay.

My husband and Daughter in law both came down with a terrible stomach bug in Feb also. Neither could get out of the bed, except to go to the bathroom.

As for inlaws, you all are very brave people. Would not even consider it! Has nothing to do with love. People are the same, no matter where they are. I have finally learned who I can travel with, and who I can't.
