AKV Savanna view

Hi,
We are staying in a 2BR Sav view Jambo during the first week of Feb. On our reservation form, it says "animals not visible from sunset savanna rooms" due to the construction of the Kidani villas.

We are DVC members but have never stayed at the AKL or AKV. Are there other savanna view rooms? Should we request a certain area to avoid the Sunset savanna?

Are there plenty of other rooms with better views or are our chances high of getting a view with no animals? Thanks for any help!

There are 2 other savannas: Arusha and Uzima. You can request one of the other ssavannas but that does not guaranty that you will get one of them. For my trip last November, I request Arusha savanna but got the sunset savanna which was great.

Your trip is during the "acclimation" period for the new animals for the sunset savanna so Disney has said that animals won't be on that savanna.

There is information on the member website regarding this. Requesting another savannah will not make a difference if you are chosen to be on the sunset savannah. Other posts on this board indicate that they are switching people all the way up to the last minute.

Affects Sunset Savanna View

As the development of Kidani Village continues at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, crews are preparing to complete the new savanna and acclimate the animals to their new habitat.

To accommodate this important process, animals are not scheduled to be on Sunset Savanna from January 15, 2009, through April 15, 2009. As a reminder, Members and Guests who reserve a savanna-view room during this time will be advised of this process, and confirmations for those bookings include a notation to that affect.

Approximately 30 days prior to arrival, the resort will determine, based on occupancy and booking date order, which Members will be assigned to a Sunset Savanna view room. Affected Members will be notified, and after their stay, will receive a Vacation Point credit reflecting the difference between a savanna view and standard view (no additional compensation will be given).

If this process is not acceptable to you, please consider alternate stay dates or resorts. Also remember that animals on the other savannas can be viewed from multiple public locations at the resort.

No don't assume there was a post last week about someone being notified 2 weeks prior. It is only approximately 30 days it isn't set in stone.

Ok, thank you. We will hope for the best, but either way will be sure to have a great time. We were just glad to get the AKV! Thanks for the info!!!

We leave Tuesday for a savanna view 2 bedroom. I requested Uzima or Arusha savannas, and so far I have heard nothing from AKV, so I'm hoping that means we don't have to worry about getting Sunset. We have DBIL and family with us, and staying at AKV savanna view was his request. I hope we don't disappoint him if we end up on Sunset. DD is worried about that too, because she is only going along because of the savanna view.

Even if we end up without animals though, there are plenty of places to view them from other areas of the resort, and they just might not be right outside your door. The embiance of AKV is great enough, that no one will care anyway, as long as they see animals somewhere there!

I saw a post 1 week prior. Not sure why they can't get it together on this.
