Ok - so DH found out that he is going on a business trip in Orlando in early May. I told him he can't go without his wife and family to our favorite place. The company said he could delay his return flight - meaning we can fly home together and he can stay an extra week. So this is a total last minute trip for us.

I really wanted to stay a week in Kidani Savanna view because I know that my boys ages 6 and 3 would love it. But of course there is no full week available. They do have either the two days at the beginning or the two days at the end of our trip. A standard view room is available the whole time. We have not been to WDW since December of 2009 so I know my boys will want to do park stuff too. I am not against moving rooms mid stay but do not want to move resorts this time (been there done that). Keeping that in mind, is a savanna view worth the points enough to waitlist the whole stay, should I split the stay, or do I take a standard? My dear wonderful DH is a whatever you decide and I need to bounce it off someone...

I LOVE the savanna view rooms, but I'm the kind of person that likes to lie around in my pajamas, so it's nice to have that view from my room without having to walk outside in the hallway and scare the neighbors.

I wouldn't mind moving within the resort either (done it before, not a big deal), but I wouldn't do it twice! Definitely not! I also wouldn't do it with kids the ages of yours. And I wouldn't do it at the end of the trip. I personally only consider moving after the first night or two. Once I'm really settled in a room, I'm not moving!

One question...Are you checking availability of studios or 1-BR?

We are going for a one bedroom because the kids want Grandma to come along - and so do we :)

what week are you going? we will be there May 11th....you could always pop by and see the view from our room!! :goodvibes

If it were me and they had the std view available for the whole trip, I would take it. There are lots of viewing areas in the resort to see the animals. The next time when you have more time to plan you can book the savannah view.

So a savanna view studio for a couple of nights is out. That's what I was thinking.

I would book the standard view and waitlist the segment at the end for the savanna view. That way you will have something to look forward to. And you will have to move only once. If you get it, great. If you don't, you still have a great room. (BTW, did you check Jambo House savanna view? Or are you set on Kidani?)

I agree. We did a savannah view in June '09 and did a standard view Dec '10. The savannah view is nice, but it would drive me crazy to be wait-listed or to have to re-pack in the middle of a vacation. There are plenty of viewing areas. We would even sometimes stand in the halls at the large windows and view the savannah. Alternatively, if you can't get what you want at AKV, maybe this is a time to try one of the other resorts, if there is availability.
