AKV - Preview Ctr - One Bedroom - Photos

The flat screen tv and dvd players are great. Love the light fixtures in the kitchen and bathrooms. Love that a one bedroom can sleep 5, but more importantly the sofa and chair can sleep one each. Really, really love that the one bedroom has two bathrooms.

The solid colors on the couch can be an issue. I need to see the faux wood trim before passing to harsh of negative comment. Overall I think DVC is heading in the right direction with the decor of new villas.

The light fixtures in the corridor at the models look great too. We saw them Sunday, but I don't see any pics on the Dis yet.

Are my eyes deceiving me or is that a roll-in shower behind the bath tub (left of the sink)? I'm looking at the floor and not seeing any step down, but I can see the drain and what looks like a shelf/seat.

There is no lip or step down, but I don't know if that was overlooked or the shower has a built in slope to the floor. I wonder since its a mock-up, if the shower works?

You have now! ;)

That's a point. It could be deceiving because it's a mockup. Now real place to put in a slope or lip. Isn't this inside the community theater? I doubt the plumbing would work then.

I hope people like me don't get false assumptions then. Funny thing is though I use a powerchair I could make do in a non-HA room as long as they have a roll-in (i.e. stepless) shower.

I noticed this too. There seems to be a whole wall of cabinets missing :confused3

Thank you so much for posting these pictures!:thumbsup2

I'm not sure how much "clearance" there considering the refrigerator opens INTO that wall. I would think not enough, since it looks like that corner jut, next to the fridge, is about 18 inches x 12 inches (just guessing).

Absolutely love it! Thanks again for posting all the great pictures! :)

I do hope, however, that they are planning on doing something to cover up the exposed plumbing. Not liking that part of it at all.

according to those pictures, does anyone think that a 1br would sleep 5? maybe i'm not seeing it. but other than that, it looks marvelous!

The red/orange chair in the living room looks like it pulls out into a twin bed.

I went back and looked at the pictures again and you are very observant. Why doesn't Disney put those type of chairs in all DVC rooms?

Thanks for posting these!!

What was the whirlpool tub like in the master bathrooom? I think there is a just a small corner of it in the photo of the shower and vanity and it looks like the tub surround is very high.

Also hoping for an answer to this question - just checked the layout on the member website and it does look like a shower area in that corner. The 2 bathroom 1 BR units are only in the new building I think but maybe I read that wrong.

In addition, prior to being able to use flat screen TV's...the TV armoires took up a significant chunk of floorspace.

The dressers seems (though it could just be an optical illusion) to take up less...allowing for a more "comfortable" fit when the chair is folded out.

I'm VERY happy Disney's gone in that direction. It's going to be a significant point savings for our family of 5, especially while the kids are young (1 BR vs 2 BR).

I love the decor and the bathroom, but, the kitchen cabinets must go, they look very cheap.

We agree with about the chair. We normally take four, DW, Me and two kids (DS13 & DD15). On a short trip this would work well for us, especially on a weekend, instead of getting a two bedroom. Having that chair and a second bathroom is perfect for us!

Wow. We were just surprised how up and close the animals were. Better than a Deluxe Savannah View. :thumbsup2

Am not certain how they have the animals showing but since the preview rooms are inside the cinema building at SSR it is most likely a mural or stage setup outside the balcony window.

And, of course, since there are no rooms at AKV on the first floor, they will also need to teach the giraffes to climb!:rotfl:

No need for climbing. They just use their wings.;)

The pictures do not do the rooms justice. You have to see them. If you are not a fan of the brown color schemes of the AKL then you won't like them. If you are they did a wonderful job.It will fit in perfectly. You will be pleasantly surprised. According to our guide, at buildout 80% will have Savannah View. Sorry to see the big corner spa tubs go but all in and all imho they did a pretty good job of utilizing space. Even with the darker color scheme the units felt open and airy.

Since we're disecting decor, what's up with the tiny coffee table in the studio? The kitchen cabinets look cheap--but maybe they look better in person. Oh, and if you're going to go with black appliances at least get a back coffee maker and toaster. I do like the bathroom and the shower stall with no step in. Don't really care for the armoir. Seems like it will be less space than a regular closet. Maybe it makes more sense once you actually try it out.

Anyone else catch the hidden mickey on the side of the kitchen table?

Picky, picky, but I'd still love to stay there!

Congratulations to all that call AKV "home"!

There is a link in this post to some AKV model photos, including one of the whirlpool tub: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=17436719&postcount=60

You are correct -- the 1BR units with 2 bathrooms are only in the new building. That is how it is listed on the Accommodations page on the AKV portion of the DCV website.
