AKV or BCV resale?

Hi! We are considering buying, but we really would want BCV but it is only available as a resale. Would you buy at AKL hoping to be able to book BCV at the 7 mo. mark (we usually vacation in the summer) or would you buy BCV thru resale with no incentives, and less years?

It makes the most sense to buy where you plan to stay the most, particularly if that resort is one of the smaller ones (BCV is, AKV is not). Summer isn't the hardest time to get into BCV - October, November & December are the toughest, followed by April & May. Of course any major holiday is a nightmare if you can't book right at 11 months, too.

AKV is a beautiful resort, but if you are sure you want to be at BCV, then in my opinion you should buy the BCV resale. You won't get the incentives, but you'll pay a lower price in exchange for the fewer years. Consider your age, too - how old will you be in 2042? I'll be 83, so the extra years isn't as much of a factor as it would be if I'd only be 55 by then!

Just an FYI: You can purchase any DVC resort directly from Disney. They charge $101/pt for BCV. You will probably have to go on a waiting list however. They often have points available right away at the other "sold out" DVC resorts but there is usually a wait for BCV points, especially if you are looking for a particular Use Year.

Got to agree with WDW1972. Buy where you really want to stay. BCV has always been difficult to get into at 7 months and will only get harder.

If you primarily want to stay at BCV....I would buy a resale there.

You don't want to make an investment in future vacations....
and be stressing that you won't be where you want to.

I agree.

We started with a resale from BWV purchased through the Timeshare store. Then we added on at VWL and AKV directly through Disney. Resales is much more of a hassle than buying direct from Disney, but if you have the time and patience, that's how I'd start out.

We went through this dilemma. We ended up buying resale at BCV through the Timeshare Store. It may be a slightly bigger hassle to buy resale, but really, we had no problems at all. They were real helpful, the process went very smoothly. If you check their website, they list their available contracts--if they don't have one to your liking, they take "requests" and will notify you when they get, say 250 points with a June use year, or whatever you might be looking for. really, I have nothing but good things to say about buying resale.

As far as, which should you buy at--it's SUCH a personal question. I love AK. I love Beach Club. Looking at my family, I could "see" us at Beach club. This year. next year. 10 years from now. 20 years from now. I could "see" us there. (Why? Walk to Epcot, walk to MGM, all those nearby restaurants, Stormalong Bay, Stormalong Bay, Stormalong Bay. YMMD, of course!) That said, I truly love the theming of AKL--so much so, that we hope to do a split stay next August, 3 nights at AKL, 8 at BCV. (We have BCV booked, waiting on the 7 month window). It may be that, after our AKL stay, I'll wish I had bought there. But, as others have stated, it's likely to be easier to book AKL at 7 months (larger resort) than BCV.

I wish you luck in your decision, it's really not one thing someone can tell you, "This is the right choice"--kind of like the Monty Python "Hand of God".

We bought a smaller resale at HH
Then purchased BC direct from Disney
We were on the wait list until our UY came thru.
This worked for us as that way we were able to purchase less than the min number of points direct from Disney for first time buyers
